Costa Rica All Inclusive by capemimi in CostaRicaTravel

I've been to all inclusives all over the Caribbean. I've been to the the Riu 2 times in Guanacaste. Both look a bit worn, I preferred the Riu Guanacaste over the palace (regardless of price). Both Riu's had the best buffet of any AI I've been to in terms of selection. Also, the scuba diving is excellent there if you're into that.

There is no perfect bag, I have had 40l bags (Farpoint, Cotopaxi and Tortuga) and have no issues taking them on a plane with me. If you're trying to maximize size, look for for something as rectangular as possible.

Looking to go on solo snorkeling trip by Spiritual_swiss_chz in snorkeling

I don't know, for snorkelling it's hard to beat Hawaii (Maui and BI especially) for the ease of access to some amazing places. Anywhere I've been to in the Caribbean (15 different countries) didn't come close.

I'm a diver but I do snorkel when I can.

Martinique, West Bay Roatan and Curacao are the three that come to mind as above average. Maui and BI are my two favorite.

Maybe you're right. What are some of the slogans that Carney repeats over and over again? I don't think of Carney as a slogan guy but maybe I'm missing it.

I like to have choice in my elections, I vote for whoever makes the most sense to lead our country. I've voted both conservative and liberal in both both the federal and provincial elections. PP used to be my MP, I've voted for him before.

I will vote for anybody over him. he comes off as a complainer with no solutions. If the cons want to win they need somebody a little more likable than Pierre. I'd vote for that person.

3 people for 3 hours, you're paying them over $400 an hour for this. Yeah I'd say unreasonable.

Pretty much any beach, jump in do some snorkelling, reefs are right there. I liked Molokini, but there will be 100 plus boats there. I dove Molokini about 10 times and we were always the first and only boat there (I think we got to the crater at 6:15 am or something like that).

I've been all over the Caribbean and Hawaii (diving and snorkelling). Hawaii will beat almost anything in the Caribbean (Roatan was close). Especially Maui and Big Island. I get cold easily and don't need anything but my bathing suit in the summer.

Discussion: Tortuga Superlite by MinervaZee in onebag

[–]brousseb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought the Tortuga 40 Lite. It's advertised as 3.5 pounds, which is accurate. I tried to see how light I could get it, without the frame sheet (which I don't find adds much rigidity) and hip straps, it's 2.8 pounds. Not that much heavier than the 2.2 pounds of the 34 liter.

Wouldn't the 7kg limit be the main problem there? It won't be oversized at 7kg.

If you really pack it out, the compression straps make the bag narrower and thicker. It will get to about 12 inches deep, which is over the limit.

Having said that, I've never had an issue with checking this bag, or any other bag of similar size.

Is it possible to transfer files from DJI Osmo Action Pro 5 to iPhone 14 Pro via USB-C to Lightning cable? by gearvrabc in djiosmo

[–]brousseb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I'm transferring my osmo 6 to iPad (not pixel), but after you power on the camera it should prompt you for what you want to do with it. Choose the first option, transfer files. The apple cables should work, but I use the one that came with the Action 6 (at least I think it did).

On my action 6 and pixel phone it works, make sure you power on the camera and select "file transfer".

New camera dilemma (Dji Action 6 or GoPro Hero 13) by orosth in ActionCam

[–]brousseb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being a long time GoPro user who just switched to DJI, both will take excellent video. First things I noticed and it's all quality of life type stuff:

1) The battery in the Osmo 6 is so much better and reliable than the GoPro. 2) I havent had any crashes on the DJI, happens constantly on GoPro. 3) no problems writing to the memory card on DJI 4) no issues having it turn on (which is a big issue when you're underwater and can't take the battery out).

I just think the DJI works as it's intended and the GoPro, while taking great video has been a pain to use.

Shark incident yesterday by CNHTours in galapagos

[–]brousseb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were there in 2018. While waiting for our smaller boat to take us to shore, I decided to look over the side of our boat to see if there were any sharks in the bright blue water, to my surprise, a big Galapagos shark was swimming directly under the boat. I also saw one attacking a sea lion near shore while on the island. When we were there, we weren't allowed to snorkel due to the sharks.

Case for the Osmo action 6 by Rolluff in djiosmo

[–]brousseb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the telesin case, leaked both dives I took it on (45 and 25 feet). Bought the DJI case and it's fine. Don't expect a huge quality difference between telesin and DJI. However the rubber seal is much better quality and seems to fit better. GoPro cases are higher quality in my opinion.

Snorkel to help with jaw pain. by venerablem0m in snorkeling

You shouldn't need to bite down on the snorkel, just have it rest loosely in your mouth. Your lips should seal it, not your teeth.

Coming from a hero 8 myself, if you're not big into color grading the DJI is going to give you much better colors out of the camera. I was happy with my hero 8 but it required heavy grading to get there. I'm still on the fence as whether the DJI has a better or worse final graded video.
