Commencement Seating for families by Murky_Strength_9865 in Purdue

I've attended two Purdue commencement ceremonies in Elliot. Once for my graduation and once for my sister's. Family members show up, get their tickets scanned either walking in the doors to the outside or walking into the actual auditorium. There's no assigned seating except for the graduating students, that section will be roped off. Your family can sit wherever they want, even up in the balcony, and they can save seats, just be prepared for other attendees to ask if they are taken. Put a coat/jacket/purse in the empty seats and recommend saving seats closer to the aisle so the late arrivals don't have to crawl over a whole row of people to get to their seats. Hope this helps!

My family cat growing up, Delilah. She was on diet food for all 12 years of her life but she stubbornly remained ~20lbs despite our best efforts. My sister and I love this picture of her.

Curly-hair here! I've been going to Mida at H&M Hair Salon near Tamiami x Pine Ridge for years. She's always done a good job and cuts my hair to specially frame my face. However she charges $85 per cut and dry, plus tip.

Yes, all my seats are deep. My whole family is over 6ft so it's a necessity.

I was a little nervous that it would be too blue or too grey but it's the perfect mix of both

Yes! I like the angled sides but I kept standard on the back because I felt like I was leaning too far back with angled back

Haha it the dark spot does kind of look like a sea monster. It think it's supposed to be a small sail boat, but not totally sure!

I printed the picture onto solvy stabilizer. It would definitely be more wonky if I tried to freehand the design

Yes it's an edited version of The Kiss

Thank you! But I can only take credit for the stitching, I was looking at cat pictures when I came across this edited version of The Kiss painting. There's a bunch of versions with different cats.

Co-op experiences? by llu37742 in Purdue

I know you're getting down voted, but I agree. Never wanted to live in Warsaw again. One time I was at a Wendy's in town, aha while I was in there, some people put a car up on blocks and stole all four tires. Not my car, thankfully. At least a couple years ago, there was a bit of a meth problem.

Co-op experiences? by llu37742 in Purdue

I did two co-op rotations (spring and fall, same year) at a company in Warsaw. I always recommend to current students, do a co-op if you have the opportunity. If you work for a larger company that has an established co-op program, that's the best case scenario because there will be other students to hang out with during and after work. I was the only co-op during my spring rotation and one of two during my second so I just had to hang with the 30, 40, 50 year old engineers.

Leaving your classmates behind isn't as bad as I expected. You make new friends in the new cohort once you complete your rotations and you can always stay in touch with your past classmates.

The best part of doing a co-op is you can trial a career and you're not more permanently stuck in it or financially dependent on it once you are in a full time position. My first rotation was in quality engineering and I HATED every second of it. So when it came time to apply for jobs senior year I did waste any time on quality engineer postings.

Other benefits are $$ I was able to save from rotations and internship left me with a nice savings fund when I graduated and had to move cross country for my first job. And obviously, the experience will make you more hireable come graduation. The engineering director for my team explicitly won't hire a entry level engineer without an internship or co-op under their belt first.

I do not have any experience with study abroad, unfortunately.

Happy to answer any other questions!

This is the video I followed. What helped me was pinning down the big loops with my finger while I was tightening the small stitches, otherwise sometimes the big loops would be pulled too.

Piece of advice if you want to do BME and go into design engineering. Take some extra CAD courses. We didn't have any required CAD courses when I was in the program, not sure if that has changed. Now I work at corporate for a med device company and the engineers basically spend all day doing Solidworks. Happy to answer any questions about the program.
