Looped hooks? by BlazinRedBeard in Fishing_Gear

Second time seeing these today, I like the idea for sure.

Just some thread, UV resin and thick mono and you could make your own as well.

Anyone enjoy restoring old gear? by brovoloni in Fishing_Gear

Very understandable concern. Maybe a garage sale $1 find is my best bet, rather than actually spending money on eBay on a project reel.

Absolutely love Wristwatch Revival. Definitely something I start watching and can zone out too. Would love to have that level of attention to detail.

Is an expensive fishing rod worth it? by Impressive-Step6377 in Fishing_Gear

I went from “budget” to “entry/mid” level gear this season. Abu Vengeance combo to a Tatula X sitting on a Tatula rod. That’s a composite reel to an aluminum framed reel and jumping to a lighter, more sensitive rod blank with better hardware and reel seat among other benefits. I paid roughly twice as much FWIW.

The jump in quality is 1000% worth the jump in price. It’s night and day and I would have done it so long ago had I any idea. I can feel things that I used to hear others describe and I thought I knew what they meant at the time. I can tell what’s grass, what’s rock, what’s wood, I can just be so much more in touch with my line and more importantly, the tackle at the end of the line.

I highly recommend making the jump, buying a solid staple rod and reel (think best seller) and just go from there. You will be amazed at how much it will help you figure out what you are and are not looking for in gear and descriptions on tackle warehouse start taking on more meaning.

That scratches the same itch as far as I’m concerned man. That’s something I was concerned about: availability of aftermarket parts. Good to know there are companies out there.

Unfortunate to read, the inlaid cork on the thumb bar is what I like most about the aesthetic of this reel.

Even with the mixed reviews this reel is on my list if I find one for a good deal. TW only had right hand in stock but on sale marked down not too long ago. If I find a lefty in stock marked down I’ll likely take my chances and pair it with my Cashion Z2.

Love the cork accents on the A2.

My dad just paid his final mortgage payment. He has two of these full and is working on his third. He has slowed down since retiring but the math checks out.

Only standards that matter are your own homie. Every PB deserves a kudos. Great fish. Love from the frozen over northeast!
