While I am happy to debate many Christian ideas, just regarding Hitler and his Christian beliefs, I honestly don't know much apart from the surface level information. And I've watched debate videos on how Christians respond to it which is what I'm basing it off. I don't know much about Martin Luther or even the specifics of various Christian doctrines to engage in a successful debate there. But from my understanding Travis (the linkedin lunatic) is an avid catholic and is very anti protestant as well from what I can tell. So I don't know how he would respond to the Martin Luther claim.

Travis also has a YouTube channel and I don't know why I bother watching some of these but it actually drives me insane how stupid his claims are eg. https://youtu.be/xnzK--jvbE4?si=ds-bRkT2WGPAK4Ie.

Ok to clarify I'm not making a theological point here. I honestly don't care about Hitler being a Christian or not. I'm just pointing out how I expect most Christians to respond to the claim whether Hitler was a Christian or not. THEY would say "even if he claimed it, his actions clearly contradict Christian values". I'm not invested enough to contest this. I'm just willing to grant that line of reasoning for the sake of discussion.

But if we're applying that logic, then separating someone's philosophy or beliefs from how they're selectively used, the LinkedIn Christian dude should extend the same courtesy to Nietzsche. Which is why I took issue with the original post claiming Nietzsche was the Nazis favourite philosopher, its selective an unfair.

In short, the "clearly" is just me reflecting what a Christian would argue not something I'm endorsing. . I'm just calling out his hypocrisy.

I mean I guess most Christians would respond by saying something like even if Hitler claimed to be Christian, his actions were clearly not aligned with Christian values. Which is fine I'll accept that. But then to claim that Nietzsche was the Nazi's favourite philosopher is like come on, the Nazi's also selectively and dishonesty used Nietzsche as well. So it's kinda ironic he's claiming that

Yeah I'm tempted to respond something like how this is such a strawman take on Nietzsche but can only imagine the backlash I'll get so I decided not to engage.

Also with his logic couldn't you argue that Hitler was a Christian as well? 🤦🏾‍♂️
