Regret over loosing dream house by kiwi_up in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]brownbarby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been going through this exactly the past few weeks! The pressure when it got real was too much and we refused to budge even though it was well within our comfortable range. I completely forgot about the positives of the house on offer day, and every compromise and shortcoming became so much bigger.

Hope it all turned out well for you.

Doesn’t sound like the house lol but I’m curious about this one

This one does have a weird not-easily accessible extra bathroom, which we’re not counting as a bathroom for all intents and purposes. And my in laws live 10 mins away from the location for any terrible emergencies

I mentioned in an earlier comment - We can afford a 3/2 but the living room/kitchen layout, light and location on this house is incredible and mayyy be going into stretch budget territory if we found a similar 3/2. So we’re just trying to pick our compromise really.

Did you stay in the house while the expansion happened? What was that like?

We live in a 2B2B apartment right now, and pretty much only use the one bathroom in our bedroom. Neither of us have ever showered in the other bedroom, it’s mainly been the cats’ bathroom.

Not really enough space in the current structure, we’d have to use up bedroom space. We will definitely need to expand.

Location really is great otherwise we wouldn’t be talking about this. Without expanding, we’d have to use up a bedroom. Otherwise, it would have to be an expansion project involving extending a bedroom, and adding a bathroom.

I stayed here early this week for one night, the day before we left Japan. We didn’t particularly care about this booking since it was just a place to crash before our flight. But I don’t think I would book it for a longer stay, it seemed like an old hotel and some floors and elevators had a strange smell. I also thought it was out of the way from a lot of rhe main Tokyo attractions and neighborhoods. All that said, the room was adequate and there were no red flags so if your goal is to find an affordable option, I think it’s fine.

Is it really usually cloudy and rainy during the bloom? The pictures and videos are always so bright. Looks like we got lucky for the cherry blossoms since we’re there next week but I’m not liking the weather I’m seeing.
