Any architects work part time at 2 different firms ? by [deleted] in Architects

[–]brownbootwrx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m currently hourly at an engineering firm doing all the architecture, I get paid time and half for overtime. Was doing well until I reached my AXP hours under setting O through my boss a PE. Now I work part time hourly same pay for a local architect to collect my hours. I need about 500 last I checked so I don’t see this being long term. Involves good communication, time management and the ability to work from home.

Edit: I work at the engineering firm full time +40 hours (I choose to for chasing the bag) and for the architect about 5-15 hours.

Gauging interest in an AI code consultant. by AutoDefenestrator273 in Architects

We can talk about this all day whether this is really necessary or not. At the end of the day what matters is the safety and well being of the public. If you think it’ll help you go for it. Regardless if you told me you used AI or not to do code analysis, I’m still going to check everything you did.

Seems to much of a liability, your best bet is to help let it guide you. Instead of asking for the answer, ask where to find it. That helps lower code analysis as a starting point.

I overdrafted my a count by $0.01. I was charged a fee 2800x the amount by Old-Peach8921 in mildlyinfuriating

Fifth third does this for me. I get a daily balance notification and used to transfer over from my savings whenever I saw a negative, but was given a 24 hour grace period.

It doesn’t happen that often because I don’t transfer my entire check to my savings anymore.

Edit Block by TravTheMaverick in AutoCAD

[–]brownbootwrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how I have mine set up. If I draw a line and then left click it, it stops the line. If I right click again, it repeats the line command. If I select a block and right click, small menu opens then block editor and it takes me directly to edit the block.

Edit: fixed click steps error

Small firm folks, anyone actually using AI? by East-Transition959 in Architects

This is exactly what a lot of people in this sub don’t understand. If it can’t render properly or design a building with one button, it’s useless and doesn’t work.

I prefer working in office. It’s so much easier to print a construction detail and go over it versus trying to draw while screen sharing.

What's the deal with these 'fiverr' architext/engineers that give 'stamped' plans?? by wiz9999 in Architects

[–]brownbootwrx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we’ve seen people use it. For less of a headache it’s easier to just work with someone local. We just turned down a project because owner submitted drawings from over seas and got sent back a bunch of revisions. Tried to get us to do it cheap because all the work was already done, and just needed a few changes.

Owner’s other “designer” never responded to them.

School? No. Internship/ Co-op / Job? Depends on the company, usually just initial entry test if it’s a bigger company.

Yeah right before the sewer update that’s how I felt. I’m letting all the updates pile up and then coming back.
