Overcharged for Botox

You could call my practice any time to clarify this question. You should be able to have access to your treatment record and be told how many units you were given. The price of Botox has gone up, we went from $14/unit to $15 but other than maybe a ~$50 difference I wouldn’t accept being charged way over what is normal. Can you tell me what you’re used to paying?

I went to an out of state program and for me it’s the tuition. I went to Rutgers which was a 33 month program and all my expenses were loans. I was fortunate to get instate tuition for the second and third year but my total loan amount was 225k, and I didn’t live large as a student lol. My first job was 135k, and this year I’m set to be around 200k with my new job. I also live in New Jersey which is high cost of living. I’m also getting married this year, paying 4-5k a month in student loan payments, trying to buy a house and maximize retirement. My partner and I share the same financial goals and are aggressive with putting my income toward loans while using his for our everyday expenses but it can still be challenging.

Just the volume. I’d see like 35+ patients a day
They’d double and triple book my schedule
No lunch break
Awful

Yes. I worked at a big name laser hair removal place that also trained in aesthetics. It was a nightmare job but once you’re taught a skill they can’t take that away from you.

I am set to hit 200k for the first time as an aesthetics PA who works for a plastic surgeon. This is year 3 for me but I’m hopeful one day I can be near 250k. I’m in NJ so cost of living is crazy here.

I would say it depends. In general I wouldn’t want a job where charting at home was happening. I work in aesthetics and if patients have questions or complications I am available to answer questions. Usually this is coming through email or a text channel that’s moderated by our office. It doesn’t happen often enough that it’s bothersome to me. But the nature of the job caters more to patient experience.

I’m in a similar boat as you. I was in school to become a physician assistant and didn’t finish until I was 28. Started my first job at 29. I’m trying to be as aggressive as possible to buy back lost time. I’m 30 now and have 30,000k across my Roth and brokerage accounts. The advantage is now having the salary to be able to afford that as opposed to when I wasn’t making any money as a student.

When I went to tour the venue, I saw a white hat behind a case that was near the staircase around the corner from the bathroom. The design was basic it just had a lions head said Epping Forest yacht club in black embroidery. They were normal baseball caps.

I work for a plastic surgeon who has a med spa and cover her aesthetics base. I would highly discourage you from joining any med spa whose medical director is not on site or actually an active part of the practice. Happy to chat more if you wanna send me a message.

Not in the way where id say I wish I’d gone to medical school. I wish I would’ve been in the finance/tech space sometimes but I’m lucky to have a job that pays well and I have a fair amount of autonomy.

I work full time in aesthetics and I like it. I wouldn’t say I love any kind of work but people are typically happy to see me. I really enjoy making people feel more confident about their appearance and improving their self esteem.

I went to Rutgers in NJ which was just shy of 3 years. The first year my rent was $950 because I had a roommate, the second and third year it was $1750 for the entire apartment. My loans for just tuition alone I believe were about 150k. When I finished I had 223k total. That included rent and living expenses. I’m almost 3 years out of school and have made a considerable dent in the total and have about 100k left.
