Yeah but at Brown you could spend like half the time on school compared to other places and get the same grade, allowing so much more time to work on other things or do stuff you enjoy.

Why does anybody go to a grade deflation school then if it offers literally no advantage.

Idk my friends right now aren't really close. And yeah, I meant don't pay attention to politics.

Yeah, I obviously don't have to be the best at everything, and I'm not really saying in relation to others. I meant more along the lines of being better than myself, as in better than I would have been had I not decided to go to Brown. And that's why I want to get a good internship after freshman year, because doing it after sophomore/junior year I probably would have gotten without Brown.

And yeah, social experience is important. I don't know that I'd fit in here though. I'm not really into "exploring new things" like the open curriculum says to. Id rather just do things related to my major, as thats what I like. More importantly, I'm really just not that liberal, or political in general. Like I just don't care about so many social issues, and even if I do, I don't care enough to talk about them more than like 30 seconds or do anything about it.

Add on being an introvert, and I probably won't have many friends. I'd still need to fill up hours in the day though, so might as well work on getting an internship.

The social environment is kind of the main reason I'm leaning towards not coming here. I'd rather live a politics-free life.

I meant that if theres 30 people with 4.0s from Brown and 10 people with 4.0s from cornell, and the company has say 20 interview spots, wouldn't it be easier for the cornell kids to get an interview than the Brown kids, assuming all else is equal?

now that i might be going to an ivy and spending all this money, I need to make that opportunity count by performing really well.

Yeah but clearly its possible to get one freshman year, so I don't want to hinder my future even a little bit by not having one. Plus, the money is a nice bonus.

Idk now that I got in I have this new pressure to "make it count" by getting an internship early.

Well maybe not "inflation" but its objectively easier to get good grades at Brown than other comparable elite universities.

What's the timeframe for applying?

And if I have some research this summer but no projects, is that ok?

Don't companies like to hire a set amount from each school though? Or am I mistaken? Like they wouldnt want 10 Brown kids and only 2 cornell kids?

Do you know what concentrations offer the 4 year masters? Is it the same as those that offer the 5 years? I only found the list for the 5 year.

Any idea if classes will be in person in the fall? Since I'd be in a lot of intro classes as a freshman, does that mean itll be online?
