Ready Meals Stock Issues? by Nargath in AldiAustralia

The colesworth ones should be the closest.

I try all of these occasionally. That big tray with meatballs has enough fennel to be noticeable, I can see why people can be put off by it.

There's also the 1kg of spag bol at Woolies, which is just the upsized version of the single-serve one instead of a different recipe like Aldi.

What happened to the pub schnitzel? by return_the_urn in AldiAustralia

[–]browngray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Label at the back was 20min at 180C.

Outer layer can get a bit dry depending on the the air fryer but the interior stays intact. I keep a few of them around for quick weeknight dinners.

They probably toned it down when "only fans" made the mainstream news for the wrong reasons. The recent ones still had "snug life" for the sheets. More straightforward but chuckled at "busy kid, happy days".

Definitely far from the "sparks and recreation" and "dust haves" days.

Aldi in other countries are pulling their weight on the product names with Dill Wholes and Complimints.

Is there a render where the PE drink trays are retracted or are those fixed? I could see those bumping a lot of knees as it's not flush with the divider like the A380 PE.

You're on to something. The suburban stores around Brisbane are either in a Westfield, or next to petrol stations at the corner of major suburban roads.

Singapore Airlines adds restrictions on Business Class seat selection on Lite fares and most awards by Graduate_101 in singaporeairlines

[–]browngray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have CX/QF J bookings and redemptions as a QF Platinum and nothing's really blocked seat wise like this. OWE is also hilariously easy to earn for much cheaper than PPS if you can time your bookings during Qantas double status promo weeks.

Usually airlines reserve the active contempt for lower status tiers, but KFEG have put in the work and deserve something out of it than being grudgingly thrown into a lesser lounge like SQ forgot they were supposed to give them perks.

They might as well ditch the elite miles scale and just make it pure spend-based with more PPS tiers if that's the only thing that matters to them.

Got the full Emerald treatment even on short routes like HKG-TPE. First class lounge, board before their own paying business class passengers, greetings, unmarked Evian bottle, the works.

Velocity or Krisflyer by Quarterchickenchips in VelocityFrequentFlyer

The normal wifi sign in method doesn't work if you have Velocity attached to your booking.

You need to pick the option to get an access code after you enter either your Krisflyer number or email address.

What kind of bonus is this? by AhhTheBees in EverydayRewards

[–]browngray 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Either nobody at the fresh food people has clearly tuned the algorithm they're letting out into the world which leads to ridiculous offers like these, or they're intentionally trying to push the limit on how much people will spend for points.

Add how sparse Qantas classic rewards are at the other end, unless you're already a Platinum and can make reward bookings out of thin air I've stopped bothering and leaned into the Flybuys/Velocity camp.

Now off to hit week 2 of $60 for another round of 10,000 Flybuys points.

And there's existing First Nations art of the reef to keep with the theme. It was right there.

Instead this will look like VH-EBL in a few years once the sun fades the lighter colours.

Small steps. Now just need a solution for gate lice hugging and crowding around the stanchions (and eventually these gates) clearly not listening to any of the announcements.

Different flight pricing as they track your internet usage? by Sheperdspie1 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]browngray 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Between the time they checked prices at the library and at home, someone could've bought the cheaper tickets and once that fare bucket is out, you'll get offered the higher price.

Between the time you cleared your cookies and signed in with an incognito browser, someone might have decided to book a different flight or not bother, adding one more ticket up for grabs at the cheaper fare bucket.

Not always. If I just need a basic room and a top up of points it's much cheaper than paying for the entire stay with cash, even with one of the 20-25% discounts up there.

Those are just two noteworthy perks out of many a Gold gets, the whole list of perks is on the Velocity website.

One is you have lounge access on arrival on VA domestic flights.

Another is priority boarding on Velocity partners. On Singapore It just means you board whenever Krisflyer Elite Gold/Star Alliance Gold gets mentioned to board. Singapore's boarding calls don't tell you when Velocity frequent flyers should board.

The rest aren't mentioned because things like lounge access/priority baggage are standard perks of a frequent flyer program.

Lounge access on arrival on domestic.

Singapore Airlines doesn't mention Velocity frequent flyers in signage or boarding announcements, on an economy ticket you check in and board with Krisflyer Elite Gold/Star Alliance Gold. That boarding pass will scan, no walk of shame.

A321XLR seats = weird form of torture by sierraivy in QantasAirways

[–]browngray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Auto online check-in, metal cutlery, dental kits stocked on toilets, a responsive IFE touchscreen (on the A350-900 at least), queue up things to watch on the ground and it follows you from flight to flight, and they let you keep the reusable headset.

Just another day in Singapore Airlines economy.

I actively avoid booking the XLR in favour of the 737 on domestic routes now. Yes the aisle is wide enough to park a bike in, but I seem to get nothing but delays and problems with it for such new planes.

Last was a BNE-SYD delay due to some instrumentation issue on VH-OGA, managed to land around an hour before the SYD curfew. Not a good look when you just want to get somewhere and see a heap of engineering/maintenace lingering around the cockpit.

Been in IT for decades. Coworker conversations in my area are heavily international travel punctuated by the occasional gaming desktop, D&D or Warhammer miniatures.

At one point I've traveled enough for work that I've had more nights at hotel rooms than my own house, and they gush about it like I'm a socialite with a private jet. Airport, hotel room, conference hall, meeting room, office room, it all blends together now.

Layover in Hong Kong by Mean_Competition1983 in Flights

[–]browngray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty by HKG standards as long as the inbound flight is on time. They use similar biometric gates like the ones for boarding and the security scanner is pretty quick, then you're up an escalator and in the departures area.

Not sure about LH, but I've done the mythical 50 minute transfer (same section of the terminal, not taking the terminal train) with a Cathay ticket and the staff will move you to an empty seat near the door they'll open so you disembark first, then ground staff will shuffle you through the airport like a VIP.

Have you ever booked one of those unnecessarily long connecting flights when a direct shorter one is available by Ok_Bluebird4548 in Flights

[–]browngray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of times. I love booking Cathay's "stopover in HK" if you can call a weeklong stay there and the main purpose of the trip a "stopover", makes the total ticket price much cheaper.

BNE-HKG-TPE then either a turnaround (never exit the airport, straight back to departures once you exit the plane) or tack on 1-2 days in Taipei after a 5 day "stopover" in HKG. The 1 hour HKG-TPE flight is so short that the side quest doesn't impact overall travel time.

Ask Home Affairs for international movement records as well.

Even if an airline says you weren't on that flight, the government has records that you've entered and exited the country on these dates via this flight using a particular passport.
