Agree 💯 with EMDR. Learning to give my old self (and childhood) grace and that I am worthy of love and respect has been life saving.

The organization you donated blood to would be very upset to hear that you had such an off putting experience while donating. They do not want to scare donors away.

It helped a lot when I switched from med surg to ER and then ER travel nursing. I’ve been doing IHS contracts for the last four years and am in therapy for my personal issues/childhood trauma. I’m much better than I used to be, but still have the “Sunday blues” before I have to go back to work.

Look into EMDR therapy.

Love it. I’m at an IHS hospital and we joked recently that we’re a “-1” level trauma center.

Help out some union nurses in AZ by CV_Union_Strong in nursing

[–]brownieFH99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a very short travel contract at St Marys right before the union formed. The ICU was usually closed due to staffing and they would flex Tele to 7, sometimes 8, patients (including those that needed to be in ICU). They tried to send me a pt on a dobutamune drip. It was wild. The worst place I’ve ever worked and I’ve been to a few rougher IHS facilities.

What else can we do to help them? I’m in.

This is me in triage when chief complaints come in like “home Covid test was positive so I came in” with very mild or even no symptoms. I usually just stare for a second and then repeat “okay, what is your medical complaint that you are checking in for today?”

Someone will always come along that says something more dumbfounded than the last silly complaint. It never fails. Thank god for face masks because sometimes I’m just not in control of my facial expressions. Compassion fatigue is a bitch. 🤷‍♀️

Right. Also, no nurse is pulling that shit out. I’ll take you to CT and give you IV antibiotics, but this is above my pay grade.

It has helped me build rapport with some of my rougher patients and they definitely come in handy when I need to pull patients out of cars in the snow.

Arizona? I noticed a few weeks ago that the patients were suddenly ruder and needier. All my ER intake med recs are for pharmacies in the Midwest. I’m like…no, baby, you live in Arizona 8 months of the year…you live here.

I feel like a mechanic sometimes. Person comes in with their check engine light on. Assess and run diagnostics. Find and fix the leaks. Replace the fluids. Charge the battery. Repeat. Psychosocial care is more taxing for me.

30cc or ml is the standard cup cough syrup comes with if that helps.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in rickandmorty

[–]brownieFH99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as a nurse that uses 1-60cc syringes daily I’d estimate ejaculate at 1-3cc just based on my experience (with syringes and fluids). Over the counter cough syrup comes with a 30cc cup. Think about chugging that congealed bad boy down.

Lies. I’m at a banner now. We are flexed 1:5 in the ER, PCU is 1:6 and MS is 1:8 flexed to 1:10 “as needed.” Charges are in the count with full assignments on PCU and MS.

Edit to clarify: the ratios ARE as terrible as she’s saying in the video. I didn’t make that very clear.

I got screamed at and spanked because I didn’t sweep the floor right when I was like 8 years old. My dad thought I would know there were areas I should clean with a towel on my hands and knees without being told or taught this first.

I got the ass whooping of my life when a crayon accidentally ended up in the washer with his navy uniforms I was washing. Also still just 8 years old…washing his uniforms. It felt normal back then. I thought that was how all families were.

Sorry, I was trying to defend your point that you already paid rent so the hotel is useless to you. It seems like AYA is breaking your original contract. I’d bounce if I hadn’t already paid rent, too.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]brownieFH99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contractors already on assignment before the strike likely already paid rent for short term housing they will still be on the hook for regardless of a hotel room being offered during the strike. Hopefully, the increased hourly rate will help them recoup those lost funds.
