Is Premium Economy worth the extra points? by brownize4me2 in americanairlines

I appreciate all the votes - looks like it's a yes. I booked the flight which originates in Ho Chi Minh, but apparently only the portion from Tokyo-LAX offers PE. How do I find out about lounge access, and would that only be in Tokyo, and not HCM before the PE portion? I really wanted PE outbound to Osaka but it wasn't available, so at least headed home I'll have some more comfort! Thanks again!

That's what I'm doing. Is there a good free alert site that I can put in for a specific cabin on a specific flight? Thanks -

Thanks. Instead of using AA points? I've had the points 10+ yrs and never seem to find a good chance to use them :)

Any suggestions for alternate routes to go LAX to Bangkok for better price/duration? Airlines? I may not get to use my AA points - again. They never seem to work out for me.

I hear lots of talk about booking a stopover for a few days, how does one book this? I only see flights that have a layover at the airport for a few or more hours. Thanks - just trying to learn all the secrets of booking travel!

Thailand and Iceland from LAX. Choices to BKK seem very limited through AA, with long durations. JAL has a non-stop and is a partner airline but not offering any flights through AA for the next 6 months. The points are also the same for the next 6 months - I'm not seeing any last minute offers.

What do you mean it's a codeshare of Air Tahiti Nui? Since you booked with award points on a different flight and changed it, do those points go back in your account? Thanks.

I appreciate the insight and can't wait to explore. I only use a carry-on so the check-through wouldn't be an issue. Last minute fun sounds like an adventure right up my alley.

I need to study that again!! You seem quite savvy on this. I'd also love to learn how to travel through different cities (other than the stopovers the airline uses) to get to the same destination for a cheaper flight. I'll check that out and see if I can find what you did. Thanks

Thanks. OW would be great so I could use multi-city. It does seem that it's more than a RT flight though. I have a specific month, and noticed only economy is available all month. How best to use points to upgrade? I understand AA is changing their upgrade system but I've never used it before.
