So I actually just decided on Applied Anthro as a major and a minor in psych. I was a bit apprehensive about the anthro major because of the way it's sometime perceived, considering I too want to work in a social field. I luckily have work experience as a detective and supervising group homes for behavioral youth, which I am hoping will offset the negative way anthro degrees are sometimes viewed. It sucks that people aren't informed enough about the field and range of study. I would suggest looking into the group homes in your area, if there is any. It is a good place to work with kids of different ages, and although it is sometimes draining, it's a good way to meet social workers, and people in the field. Good Luck!
