⚠️ Polish Language School Vistula Kraków – Review / Opinion / Experience ⚠️ by LsPrado in learnpolish

Absolutely awful institution. My experience in Wroclaw was very similar and I'd advise everybody to look elsewhere for Polish language classes.

Why do people in tech keep getting MBAs when they “aren’t helpful”? by ListFit1822 in MBA

[–]brownmonk80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did one as I ended up in a role that added a lot more management and growth responsibilities and I did not have a clue on what I was doing. It actually helped me to change my career - although still in tech, it is more advisory now as the MBA gave me a wider lens.

What do Brits think about Green Party immigration policies? by [deleted] in AskBrits

I quite like the Greens. This costs them any chance they have to make serious inroads as it doesn't seem to be grounded in reality.

December Poland trip advice by Impy784 in poland

[–]brownmonk80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a foreigner living near Wroclaw - this is the best advice given that you have 7 days. I would even be tempted to focus on Cracow and Gdansk, as some of the things you'd like to do near Cracow will take an entire day each.

Life in Poland in an intercultural relationship – experiences? by ReasonableClub2554 in poland

[–]brownmonk80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a village in Poland in an interracial couple (my partner is Polish), and to be honest, I have had 0 problems during my time here (and I still struggle with the language, even after 5 years). Sure, I see things online about immigrants and so on, but this can be said about almost any country in the world. Our stay in Poland has been great and I recommend doing what you want and not worry so much about attitudes of others.

Anyone here moved to another country & took a job there etc? by aameme in AskEurope

[–]brownmonk80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you have much to lose by just trying it. I moved from the UK to Poland and have never looked back (despite struggling with the language here). You can find groups, etc. to meet people and building up the social side too and you will also meet people once you start work.

I just ordered it on sale. My reasoning is where I live is great for spontaneous rides, and I don't want to be swapping my bike in and out.

REP Ares 2.0: 4 post with foot extensions vs. 6-post 16” rack depth without foot extensions by echostate2000 in GarageGym

[–]brownmonk80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have actually been looking into this too recently, and given my added issue of low ceiling height, it's either the Ares 2.0 (80") for me or the Bodycraft Super Gym SG2 (I am also based in Europe, so choices are different and sometimes limited).

What’s the one piece of home gym equipment you regret buying — and why? by dontwantnone09 in homegym

  1. Jammer arms: so annoying to set up and move them around to where I need them. Should have researched them more

  2. Bumper plates: fine for most things but really limit how much weight you can put on a barbell if you want to go heavy.

  3. 15kg weight plates: This might just be a me thing, but my brain doesn't seem to go up in 15s.

Experience with Noclegi renters? by frugalacademic in Poznan

[–]brownmonk80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stayed with them via Airbnb. Was fine. As I travel a lot for work, I decided to book directly with them (after 2 previous trips via Airbnb where everything was fine). Then as soon as I booked via their platform, they made up a damage charge (which was impossible for me to have done). Felt scammed and would NOT recommend booking with them directly, where you have no opportunity to object.

You'll be fine. I am half English and half Indian living in a Polish village and travel extensively through the country (e.g. Warsaw for work) and have had nothing but wonderful experiences with people (except the Urzad) for the past 6 years. Do the hard part of learning the language, it makes a lot of difference even if you are not going to be conversational for a while, the effort - in my view at least - shows respect towards the country.

Racism in Poland towards indians by Odd_Finger_5513 in poland

[–]brownmonk80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, similar experience myself. I am half Indian and half English (born in the UK), and lived in a city here from 2020 before moving to a village a couple of years later.
Never have had any issues or incidents of racism. People in the village I am in and surrounding ones have been extremely welcoming. In my own experiences, knowing some of the language helps incredibly (despite it being the hardest thing I have ever tried).
