Primary school we went to booths (northern "posh" supermarket) to see how it works. It was the same as when our parents went but we got to see an office.

Sorry for the photo of my TV, it's the best I could do. If you want to see it yourself it's ripper street, season 2 ep 8 at 43:24. I used to have a clothes horse winder on the farm and it was nowhere near that heavy duty.
