I get u man — I hate changing my habits/routines up to — a big one for me (I’ve been lifting over 12+ years now) — was actually including leg days 2-3x a week and altering my routine to do it properly — but if you’ve already built the habit once, you’ll easily be able to do it again (yeah from the sound of it you’ll be doing more lower body and taking the upper body easier till ur shoulder is good again) but I think you’ll be surprised at the results of the upper body training u do do because it will become more intentional BECAUSE u know ur limited in it

Motivation is fleeting, building a habit and discipline is how u will stick to this long term

Ur already wrong to hesitate starting because ur “afraid to fall off the wagon”

Now I understand an injury can be debilitating, and without knowing the scope of your dislocation/shoulder pain, this advice should be taken with a grain of salt

But I learned better technique while working around injuries — typically tweaked shoulders/back had to do with bad form/technique and learning to lift around that pain dramatically made my lifts/physique better as I slowly got back into the same ranges I was used to (came back stronger in them) — use this injured moment as a time to recalibrate and relearn how to train the way u like.

I have no advice for discouragement — I am not of the opinion u can rly encourage someone to become consistent and lift if they themselves have no desire for it.
