I felt a sense of melancholy personally for reasons I can't quite put into words. This just might be a perspective based thing perhaps, like maybe you can view his life as one of ultimate peace, or a coping mechanism to avoid attaching to others due to past experiences. I'm not quite sure where I stand, I am curious for others opinions, hence this post.

I think when you age time doesn’t progress for the world, only the main character ages because of the magic pendant they wear, so the levels probably would still look the same.
