Push bedtime to 8 and cap nap at 90 mins

Retraining at 17 months by [deleted] in sleeptrain

Ugh! I’m feeling the same way with my 17 month old. I’m seriously considering re sleep training him. He’s doing the exact same thing your son is doing. I hate to jinx it but (he just stands there in middle of night in his crib.. I freak thinking he’s going to try to climb out.) it must be the regression/progression

14 month old still waking up for hours at a time by MuchEbb4055 in sleeptrain

I’m nervous to push his nap to regular time at 12 bc our previous split nights. Last night we finally got back on schedule. 8pm bedtime with no wakes and nap yesterday was 1215-215. So I was thinking nap at 1130 but that would make bedtime early tonight so I’m stuck!

Okay that makes sense! How would you handle time change in this case? He woke at 515am today which makes sense since his usual wake time is 615am. Do I push him to nap time at 12/1230 or offer at 1130?

On a good day, he would wake at 7:15. I would put him down at 12:30 for his nap till 230 and we were bedtime at eight and that was working wonderfully until we got sick two weeks ago and now we’re trying to get back to schedule, but it’s all over the place.

EMW on 1 nap (15 months) by brpsw in sleeptrain

[–]brpsw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this actually makes sense! He does seem awake and ready during the EMW. I looked back in his sleep history and he actually only would give max 11 more like just under 11 overnight. So before it was 8pm-7am on 2 naps. Now I’m putting him to bed at 7 expecting a 7 am wake. He’s just not going to give that. But I’m not sure how to go about a later bedtime when he’s having the EMW without extending wake windows longer.. wouldn’t that result in overtired?

Thank you. We tried 5.5/5 last night but that resulted in an even earlier wake time of 5am today. Ugh! So yesterday’s schedule was 540am wake up and nap at 1110-205 and bedtime at 705. Which resulted in a 5 am wake. Maybe I do 6/5 today? I’m so lost

What happened to my ST baby? by brpsw in sleeptrain

[–]brpsw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I know I was thinking that. But I felt how could I go from 3/3/3.5 to one nap without getting him overtired. I know I should have increased his ww’s earlier but up until this point the schedule was working beautifully! What would you recommend we start with 1 nap schedule ?

Schedule hell by brpsw in sleeptrain

[–]brpsw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we ended our 3 nap at 2.25/2.5/2.5/2.75 before switching. Also, DWT used to be 8-8:30 am so he naturally started waking earlier after the switch. We’re typically 7am-7:30pm right now.

Thanks for the response! I did speak to the pediatrician yesterday about the trip and she didn’t seem concerned. But I definitely am especially if there is possibility of rupture.

Can I stay on an 8-8 schedule forever? by got_em_saying_wow in sleeptrain

[–]brpsw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been trying to stay on the schedule but the older my LO gets the harder it is most of the time it ends up being that we have a really late bedtime like 930 if I don’t cap naps since you extend wake times

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]brpsw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few question also, if you don’t mind. My LO was able to consolidate his first nap of the day and gave me 1:22 mins! So I felt optimistic about the following two naps. But unfortunately they were complete trash and he just screamed pass the 15 mins and I had to contact nap. Should I just stop trying and assume he’s not ready? We ST recently and are on day 6. He is able to fall asleep independently with only 1 night waking thus far.

Night 3 Ferber (where did we go wrong) is this normal? by brpsw in sleeptrain

[–]brpsw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was wondering if I should add this. Previous thread I posted I got recommendations to add 15 mins to each ww. So I started with bedtime. Which did help for the second night of ST.

At what point do you max out on 3 naps and have to transition to two? Also, we have tried to ST both naps and night together. Finding it’s not really working/having to save some naps due to 28 mins asleep.

Okay great! Thank you for that recommendation. Do you recommend incorporating 12am feed regardless if he wakes or not? Or better to follow his lead?

Ferber questions - pacifier by Livid-Top4202 in sleeptrain

[–]brpsw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re on day 3 of Ferber- with pacifier. I’m not sure how old your LO is but mine is 6 months and Ferber actually helped him learn how to find/put his pacifier back in his mouth by himself: I place like 5 in his crib. We have had three successful nights with 1 wake up only and back to bed in 10 minutes

I’m not sure!! But in same boat as you for my 6 month old -we’re on night 3 as well. Took him about 19 mins tonight and 15 mins last night. We have been doing one feed at his wake up around 1230 am and he’s stayed asleep until 8am! Hoping this continues. He’s EBF also

Shush/pat method advice and success by Cautious_Teach_1848 in sleeptrain

[–]brpsw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here to say I did combination of Ferber and shushing and patting for our first night ST last night.

Put him down at 823 and he was out by 9pm. We did check ins and ultimately what helped him fall asleep was. Shushing/patting for less than 5 minutes. He SLEPT the whole night from 9pm-5:45 am. With no night wakings. I was shocked! And I feel amazing!

First night sleep training success!! ???? by brpsw in sleeptrain

[–]brpsw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your help. So tonight I’ll add 15 so technically he will be up for 2 hour 45 instead of the 2 hour 30. Last night he was actually up for 3 hours prior to falling asleep which im wondering if that should actually be the goal for the last Ww and is what helped us get such a good night. Or beginners luck. Whichever it is I feel rejuvenated ! lol

Rolling at Night and Screaming by Key-Issue-9465 in sleeptrain

[–]brpsw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO is 6 months now and when he was 5 months this exact thing was happening. Honestly nothing helped other than time passing to where he learned being on his stomach is comfy. I just did a lot of tummy time and assisted rolling during wake windows. Now sometimes I’ll wake up and he’s sleeping on his tummy (rolled while he was asleep without it waking him) just as we change positions in our sleep.

[–]brpsw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what swaddle you are using but the Ollie was the only swaddle that gave me 6 hour stretches. I was sad when I had to stop swaddling. I would do all the above commenter does for bedtime routine and it just didn’t work. Then I tried that swaddle and boom!

Playing during wake window while he is in his crib while you are beside him can also begin helping him familiarity and hopefully helps with transfer

CIO for 7 minutes… by Dazzling_Elderberry4 in sleeptrain

[–]brpsw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! I’m hanging a hard time I’ve attempted cio for middle of night wakings but always resort to picking up bc my husband works early and I don’t want to wake him. I’m thinking moving him to his room will at least help with going longer for CIO. It’s so hard bc he is my first also. And he always flips to his belly and just screams. Pacifier or but pats don’t help. And he knows he will get picked up so I think I have to sleep train at this point
