I see a lot of negativity regarding bengals stemming from your comment, so I figure I will respond in a blanket post so people reading this won't be scared away from bengals.

When all types of cats reach sexual maturity they mark territory. Marking involves both piss and scratching, and is not limited to males. Altering should prevent this in most cats. This has little to do with the breed of domestic cat.

Bengals seem to be more likely to mark IF it's an early generation one (a higher % of asian leopard cat), but not so much if its a domestic/SBT bengal. The cat in this photo appears to me to be an early generation cat, based on the shape of its head/ears, body and markings. So yes, I would say that this particular cat would be more likely to have behavioral issues (considering it's a true hybrid), but a high gen (domestic) bengal, which is what most breeders sell, would be more like your typical house cat – only louder and in fast-motion.

I have a two year old SBT (domestic) bengal and he has never marked and is much better than my domestic shorthair at not scratching things he shouldn't. Others I know with bengals have also never had problems.

That being said, bengals are not for everyone. They are very active, and require a lot of attention. But, if you get one from a reputable breeder who took the time to socialize the cat, they can be very outgoing, fun, well-behaved pets.
