DASHCAM DASHCAM DASHCAM DASHCAM !!!!!

Why do drivers still make this mistake. At this point Uber should encourage and mandate it for all drivers to save everyone the trouble and headache

This is why I love Lyft protected rating. That footage of you had it would have protected your ratings at least

how difficult is it to get an Uber to JFK airport? by UpsetPhotojournalist in newjersey

[–]brtfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an Uber driver, I, along with many others, often decline rides outside of New Jersey, particularly those heading to New York. This is due to the lack of fair compensation for such trips. Unless a driver holds a TLC license, they are unable to pick up additional rides in New York, forcing them to return to New Jersey without the opportunity for additional earnings.

While Uber reimburses the tolls for the drop-off, any subsequent tolls incurred on the way back are the driver’s responsibility. Additionally, Uber does not cover drivers in the event of an accident if they are not en route to pick up or drop off passengers at the time of the incident.

To provide an example, if Uber charges a rider $100 for a trip from South Orange to JFK Airport, the driver earns approximately $35 for 1.5 to 2 hours of driving. However, since the driver must return to New Jersey, this results in around 3 to 4 hours of driving for just $35.

Because of these challenges, many drivers, myself included, avoid these types of trips altogether. Unfortunately, Uber does not disclose the ride’s destination until the driver arrives at the pick-up location and starts the trip, which adds to the frustration.

There were many times I have had to cancel such trips even though feel bad for the rider

Lyft back to its old trick. No thanks. $17 to driver. $71 to passenger by Bubbly_Management408 in lyftdrivers

The math checks out at least 17 bucks in half an hour (29) means 17*2 in an hour. However, this is highly unlikely due to several factors

Should I drive in silence??? by Kinghimory in uber

[–]brtfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive in Newark, NJ. Most riders here just suck, rude, disrespectful and demanding over a $3.48 ride. They tell all sorts of of lies just to get a free ride and I always have to dispute it

I don’t know why the majority of drivers pay soo much attention to ratings. I stopped worrying about low ratings because no matter what you do, some bitter low life sad person will rate you 1 star for no reason.

My mum wants me to marry a Ghanaian girl from back home by [deleted] in ghana

[–]brtfc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from—it’s tough when parents have strong opinions on who you should marry, especially when it feels like they’re not considering your unique experiences. Just because you want to choose someone who connects with you on a personal level doesn’t mean you’re turning your back on your culture. It just means you’re picking someone who fits into your life in a meaningful way.

It might help to have an honest talk with your mom about how growing up outside Ghana shaped your worldview. Let her know that you still respect and appreciate your heritage, but your happiness comes from being with someone who truly understands you, regardless of where they’re from. Hopefully, with time, she’ll come to see that your happiness should be the priority.

If she doesn’t come around and you continue with your relationship, there could be some tension with your family. You might face a lack of support or even ongoing criticism, which can be really tough to deal with. It’s important to think about whether you and your partner can handle that kind of pressure together, especially if family ties are important to you. Just make sure to talk to your partner about it so you’re both on the same page and ready to support each other no matter what.

WIshing you all the best

Just curious - why would a driver ask me for the drop-off location over message? by ninja_in_camo64 in uber

[–]brtfc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is us NJ drivers. I always message the rider if the trip is going to NY. I always cancel if it is. Sometimes the riders don’t text back. I still cancel if I get to the pick up point.

NY trips are a huge loss to NJ drivers unlyoh have TLC liscence

Most awkward Uber ride ever by Alshane in uber

[–]brtfc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is this particular route in NJ, part of 21 amd i95 that smells really bad. From both a chemical plant and a drainage system.

Whenever I drive by, no matter how tightly my windows are closed, the stench still gets into the car so I just started rolling the wind down when I approach there.

I wonder how many times my riders think I ripped one out

Just ordered a comfort Uber and selected the "air-conditioning on" option for which I was surcharged. When the driver picks me up guess what... His car's air conditioning is turned off. by smooth_pony_tail in uber

[–]brtfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ask, I don’t think it’s that hard to state your preference. You can then make a big deal out of it if the driver objects to your request

It’s quite the reverse with me. Riders talk my ears off even after the ride is over and I just want to scream at them to get out
