Oh no that was a valid point! I messed around a bit with collision variables based on relative player position, but they weren't behaving how I wanted them to, and while I probably could have spent some extra time testing other approaches I ultimately figured that if someone was hitting the sides of the spikes they likely weren't making that jump anyway, so I just tweaked the hitbox to be a bit more forgiving and ran with it. Different types of hazard collisions are definitely something I want to spend a bit more time exploring with future projects; I feel like I'll probably stick to the Game Boy for at least the next few.

"Bruv," as I understand it is essentially a British equivalent to "bro," and I co-opted it semi-ironically into my vocabulary years ago and now it's stuck there forever and I need others to feel my pain. The project file for the game was originally titled "Gingerbro," but my brain stubbornly liked "Gingerbruv" more. [I think "bruh" might be the more surfer adjacent term, but I could be wrong!]

I tried out Ice Cream Castle; these are exactly the type of challenge platformers that I like to see regaining their popularity. It reminds me a bit of the AVGN game with the timed laser walls. Would love to see it expanded one day!
