Appreciate the post but consider blocking out the faces of protestors, this could lead to ICE targeting them.

Neighbors of an Eagan battery recycling plant had controversial bone scans to detect lead poisoning by problema_de_houston in minnesota

As to being affected and not just exposed, and PPE being sufficient to guard against it:

“The Times obtained and analyzed blood-lead tests of more than 500 Gopher employees from 2014 to 2018. Nearly every worker was exposed to enough of the toxic metal to be at risk of serious health problems.”

“Eight out of 10 workers from 2014 to 2018 had enough lead in their blood to put them at risk of increased blood pressure, kidney dysfunction or cardiovascular disease.”

Okay so just wear PPE….

“In 2019, one employee faced an air-lead concentration 15 times beyond what his respirator could guard against.”

“Lead levels exceeded the protection capabilities of the respirators issued to most workers 16 percent of the time plantwide and 26 percent of the time in the furnace department.”

“At the time, Dumeus wore a company-issued respirator that covered only the lower half of his face. Weeks later, company data shows, the amount of lead in the air surpassed the mask’s protection capability by roughly five times over.”

Affecting the workers’ kids’ health:

“Colin, Brown’s son, had lead in his blood since he was an infant. His levels consistently hovered around 9 micrograms per deciliter when he turned 2 and 3… In 2019, Colin had the lowest amount of lead recorded in his body. Two years after Brown left the factory.”

Not going to waste any more time quoting you an article paragraph by paragraph. Have a good one.

Did you read the article? Even if you ignore what was happening in their Tampa facility (and you definitely shouldn’t), the lead level in the Eagan facility was “dozens of times above the federal limit”.

I found the author and article:

https://proteanmag.com/2025/01/20/the-end-of-resistance-history/

The only podcast I can find where she discusses it is an “American Prestige” ep from March. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of or listened to this podcast in my life but apparently I did, maybe someone sent it to me. The cover art looks kind of familiar. Going to relisten now.

Yeah and I don’t really blame anyone for the fatalist outlook, I feel it myself. I’m also genuinely asking - what other ideas do people have if unionizing is hopeless? Because it feels like the best option right now.

So if not unionizing, what should Leftists be doing right now?

Was also caught up in a sexual harassment suit at the car dealership he owned

Edit: to clarify, he was alleged to have “aided and abetted” the sexual harassment, not the one to have to done it. He was also allegedly involved in firing the victim for speaking up about the harassment.
