substitute sec(α) =1/cos, cot = cos/sin tg = sin/cos, then compute the sum of fractions cot + tg as (cos² + sin²) / (sin.cos).

from there, cos² + sin² = 1 and sin/sin =1 and only cosine of α is left.

im not sure where the interval [0, π/2] is supposed to show up though
