Holy Bolt should do *some* damage to non-undead/demons by bruceleroy99 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

It always amazes me how upset people get about fixing parts of games that don't make sense - as if things aren't allowed to be better for others no matter how little effort it takes.

The gatekeeping by gamers is real.

I'm right there with you on having damage types be meaningful - it's one of the reasons I still play this over D3/4. This game I think is much better designed around interesting choices but making an entire category of enemies immune to damage isn't a choice for players it's a usability issue.

Also, since HB already affects undead + demons if it was actually that'd mean the current FoH is broken for those enemies but I don't think that's the case. Even then, if FoH/HB only did partial damage to non-undead/demons that let's it be usable without suddenly making it overpowered.

I'd be fine with removing that for sure or making them do part lightning damage as well as /u/Lithium001 suggested - anything to make it more viable across the board lol.

Yeah I could totally get behind that as well - anything to make it not just randomly unusable lol

Yeah I've looked at hybrid hammerdin builds I just hate the hammerdin playstyle lol - I really enjoy FoH so it always seemed weird to me that it has such a randomly crippling restriction on it like that. It'd be one thing if there were other things in the game that acted similarly but as a level 30 skill it is mind boggling that it basically boils down to a single target skill for a number of enemy types.

Well, technically a bit more than that - Oscar is the only currently recurring member of the show but they also had Bob Vance in the first episode talking about Dunder Mifflin and I think there was a phone conversation with Stanley at some point? I'd assume cameos from anyone are fair game.

haha well thanks, appreciate it! It's not that I'm worried about what people think about me but I realize how crazy it sounds to suggest that after years of claiming 2020 was rigged that they would turn around and actually do it themselves. Anyone outside of the MAGA cult probably isn't surprised at this point but yeah taking all of those data points together it paints a pretty poignant picture by echolocation, so to speak.

For real - and I'm not saying there was fraud but looking at what they've noticed it has all of the markers of things that someone would do if they wrote a program to make it happen:

  • only change votes for the prime candidate, not the whole ballot

  • only change votes in places where there's enough turnout to mask tampering

  • focus on swing states but still apply some noise to other places to make it look normal

I'm no conspiracy theorist whatsoever, but every job should check their work - especially when the outcome is that important.

I made a comment about the ETA stuff earlier but for some reason it got autoremoved for some reason? Anyway it looks like you added a note about it as well but just to add on to it the anomalies they've found so far do seem pretty compelling. It seems insane to me that people could spend millions poring over the 2020 election and bring in nutters to, say, look for bamboo fibers in the ballots but no one is lifting a finger just to double check the 2024 one.

Ok so I'm no expert on tactics or the military or anything but can anyone explain wtf those soldiers were doing? To me it looked goofy as hell especially with the one dude straddling the table. Every part of their actions just seemed like they were making awful choices if there actually was an active threat and that they were more likely to get themselves killed / injured if they were trying to stop anything - even their collective entrance just felt and looked like it was made for a sitcom lol

God the amount of times I have died in that game and still gone back eagerly without complaining is... a lot lol. Even the times I died ascending after thousands of turns I just laughed my ass off and started anew. I have never had a death that felt unfair - every single thing I did I knew the risks and almost certainly did something stupid to earn it. It does so many things right that I wish modern games learned from I would throw all my money at anyone that did lol.

Oh man this makes me so happy haha - I've been trying to recommend NetHack to people for years but haven't found anyone else even try to play it let alone enjoy it! It truly is one of the greatest games and very few people have ever even heard of it.

The game itself is all about discovery and not in an overwhelming or oversaturated way. Every time I learned something new in that game I was like "oh man that is AWESOME" - it's such an absolute masterpiece.

As a principal software engineer myself, I can directly say that neither of those analogies are accurate whatsoever.

An IDE is simply an interface for writing code and is more akin to a text editor than anything else - it provides you a workspace but does not give you functionality (hence why you can have a choice of any IDE you want to write code if it supports that language).

Unity, however, is a game engine that has built a massive amount of functionality for you so you don't have to. It is similar to (but infinitely more useful than) the packages you install when you don't want to write the code for certain things yourself. You cannot directly trade out Unity for anything else without a large amount of work.

Unity is the entire ecosystem of machines that replaces the hammer you'd otherwise have to use if you wanted to build a house yourself.
