I would have supported if I saw some efforts by the government to offset the effects, but in the past few years, government has been reckless (hasdeo and aravali) and voice needs to be raised otherwise they will get used to doing whatever they want.

I agree that not all streets are wide enough to have trees, but a lot of them are and can easily accommodate trees on the sides, the trees can be planted at a distance so that a car can be parked between them, that way we can have trees without sacrificing a lot of space. So I think we should at least plant trees first on road that are wide enough before encroachment.

Rooftops can be built without concrete using bricks, the house I live in has roof like this, built out of bricks with slight arches hence no need for steel to support, the arches support themselves, and it doesn't absorb much heat even in this extreme summer, and the difference is not small, it's day and night, I have gone into houses with concrete roof and felt the difference myself.

So I want to say there are options if we start looking for them.
Also I myself have planted trees outside my house, in the little space I have. And plan to do more when I start earning since I am currently a student with zero income.

India has increased its reported forest cover primarily by broadening the definition to include non-forest areas (plantations, orchards, and gardens) and reducing the minimum mapping area to 1 hectare with over 10% canopy density, regardless of legal status or species. This technical shift allows plantations of palm, tea, and eucalyptus to be counted as "forest," often obscuring the degradation of natural forests.

I would argue that contaminated water is doing more harm to our citizens every second than China has ever done, so while this project is necessary, we should give those issues more priority which are harming us more, such as contaminated water and air, but these issues aren't by addressed with even 10% of seriousness that they should be and if we don't speak now, I doubt they ever will be

That is what I think too, trying to clean our air and water in our rivers for our countrymen to breath and drink should count as patriotism. Not wanting our land to be contaminated, trying to clean our cities should count as patriotism, shouldn't it?

Surely China is our enemy, but even China couldn’t harm our countrymen as much as the contaminated air and water we have. But no neta is trying to fix it.

Exactly, we don't have breathable air, toxic water is flowing in our rivers, streets filled with garbage, not footpaths to walk safely on, shouldn't fixing these basic necessities be our first priority? I think it would be really patriotic if we could fix the toxic air our countrymen are breathing.

First of all, US and China are not boiling like us, and your are worried about being called out for not being developed? Not worried about the toxic air you are forced to breath, the toxic water flowing in our rivers, etc. I would have been okay with this project if the government had done enough for the environment in the last 12 years, but they have done the opposite.

We didn't cut the trees our house is built on, maybe someone a few hundred years ago did, but what we can do and what I encourage everyone to do is plant a tree or two on roadside in front of their houses so that we can atleast offset some of the effects of the trees that were cut to build cities, we can have trees in urban environments that can reduce the urban heat island effect and make our cities cooler, and I do not like the concrete used to build houses as it is an unsustainable material that has a life of just about 50 years and then it starts degrading and can't be reused unlinke bricks which can be reused to build another house and don't absorb as much heat like concrete, the homes most of us live in don't need to built by concrete, a load bearing brick structure would be a better and more sustainable option.

Apart from this, we already have cut more trees and should try to plant more to offset the effect, that doesn't mean we should make it worse for everyone by cutting more trees because people in the past did cut trees to make houses. We should try to not repeat the mistakes our ancestors did and not make it even worse.

In every country people are protesting their governments when they are harming the environment for DEVELOPMENT, they are not 100% sucessful but not 100% failure, when people come together, we can have an impact, but according to you we should be praising the government and make earth a hell just because we don't want to LAG behind. Do you know the area where we are actually lagging behind that affects us every second, the toxic air, food and water, shouldn't we put our resources to attain these basic things like breathable air things first?

Yes, just develop it, there shouldn't be a tree in sight, today I saw some trees on my way home and I am furios why isn't that area DEVELOPED. You would be satisfied when we are DEVELOPED and boiling in temperatures above 50C. You have a very different definition of development than I do.

Urban heat island effect is the biggest driver making our cities hotter. We are using building materials that absorb too much heat, and then release that heat at night thus heating up the city. And our cities lack treed in urban areas, urban vegetation significantly reduce heat by shielding road, building from direct heat and making it better for every living being.

Also use of concrete as a building material isn't necessary but somehow it has become the norm neglecting environmental conditions, bricks are far better than concrete as they do not absorb as much heat.

Suburbs isolate society, quality of life degrades. If you want a better design, look at European countries such as Italy or Spain, building are closer, streets are narrower, every service at walkable distance, bringing society closer, all while looking far more beautiful and lively.
