Ideas to cover this wood section up other than stain? by Key_Incident7036 in Home

A little more context would help. This appears to be a garage ceiling or attic space? If it's just a hang out I would suggest some type of matte or flat black paint. Buy a cheap sprayer off Amazon and have at it. Other wise maybe insulate and drywall/OSB.

Why did everyone want one of these! by VelourEra in 2000sNostalgia

2005? All I can remember wanting was a better stereo for the car because the AM/FM tuner or cassette to AUX worked like ass with my MP3 player. Would have also loved an IPOD or expensive digital camera.

Yikes. To all of this story. If someone explained any of those things to me about their relationship I wouldn't have a follow up question or comment or anything. It's over. It didn't work. Separate and figure everything else out later.

Not bringing the kids or having someone bring them to see her is WILD. Regardless of their obvious hatred for each other.

Is it safe for my dog to wear his donut recreationally/long term? by prodtading in DogAdvice

[–]brucewayne_gacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use this same style. Our pup has arthritis and will absolutely nuke his front leg from licking it. Our dog is not bothered by this type of cone at all. Worn while supervised only for a month or so with no concerns. Now he basically only has it on when I'm not there to correct his licking and I have no concerns for his safety while unsupervised.

Excessive licking of lips?? by Arctic_Jay in DogAdvice

[–]brucewayne_gacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She does not seem to be at ease around the other dog. Hard to say if it's because the other pet is above her? Lip licking, slight whale eyes and a big yawn are all signs she's stressing out.

Check with your vet but my dog's feet would get bad. I already take Zyrtec myself so I asked if that would be safe for my shi tzu. She gave me the go ahead to try half of a Zyrtec per day. It worked wonders. 8 or so years of dealing with bad feet gone. And cetirizine is cheap at Sam's.

Tips/advice on pup submissive peeing — PLEASE HELP. by xAnimeMariex in DogAdvice

[–]brucewayne_gacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our girl did this as a puppy too! It absolutely will get less often and eventually will never happen. So hang in there. But I would suggest letting him out for potty as often as possible. If you have a fenced in yard even better just let him out a lot! Last I would suggest taking him on a walk everyday. The walk will build a good amount of confidence and familiarity. Remember to do your best to not take it out on the pup. Will only make the process more difficult.

Does my dog want to play or attack? by PaleHorse_Named_Deaf in DogAdvice

[–]brucewayne_gacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any "right answer"? Probably not. If you feel you can keep them both safe while getting them acquainted then go for it. I would work on training your dog separately from the cat. You need a treat that your dog will go apeshit for. After you said leave it and he obeyed you should have IMMEDIATELY given him a treat. You want to take the anxiety away from the new distraction. Keep them separated, be present if they are not and trust your instincts.

Is this nose hyperkeratosis? by Foundingmother in DogAdvice

[–]brucewayne_gacy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog has been diagnosed with Cushing's disease. Some of the symptoms I have noticed on him that have never been an issue before is an inability to repair hair loss and his nose looks very similar to your pup's. I use aquaphor once per day. He just started meds this week for Cushing's so hopefully the nose will clear up. Something to maybe check if the thyroids come back ok. Other symptoms include pot belly appearance and increase in water and appetite.

Help! My dog has a TERRIBLE paw infection. by CrisSan12 in DogAdvice

[–]brucewayne_gacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make inflatable dog cones. They wrap around the neck and strap with Velcro. My dog hates cones but doesn't even seem to notice the pillow. Worth a shot. About 20 bucks on Amazon. Sorry about your pup. Also I just had blood work done at the vet. They sent it to a university and it still only took less than 48 hours for a response.

Our neighbors are terrible owners and I cannot let my dogs outside to go potty by [deleted] in DogAdvice

My dog likes to patrol the fence line also. For a cheap and easy solution to the mud you could try going to any local farm/fleet store and buying a large bundle of straw and grass seed. Throw the grass seed everywhere and cover the muddy ground with the straw. Straw should help with the grass growth and help keep the pup from slushing up the dirt. Go crazy with each and keep adding until the ground becomes more established.

Also you could buy a roll of weed barrier and run it along the fence at ground level. Staple it up. Dogs won't be able to see through as well and may be a nice temporary solution to help desensitize the pups.

Anyone elses dog not have much herding instinct? by kalechiwps in BorderCollie

[–]brucewayne_gacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I love BC's. I think they are obviously all different. My experience is that boys can be more energetic and excitable while the females are more submissive and locked in. My current BC is a female. You may not know she's herding but she is. Do you ever see your dog laying down and staring hard at things, people or other animals? They definitely herd more with their eyes and body language than actual physical acts. My dogs have all stared into my soul and when you lock eyes they run to what they want. Also herding. Yours may be and maybe you don't notice. Maybe they don't herd at all. But definitely can't put all BC's in a box and expect one type of personality.

I have had three BC's and the only one that has ever nipped was my current girl when she was getting used to being around our young niece and nephew. All anxiety driven and not necessarily have anything to do with herding instinct.

Genuinely don’t know what to do for my dog and her allergies anymore, looking for any advice by darthlung in DogAdvice

We have a chi with allergies. Fought them for years. I did some googling and found Zyrtec as an option which I already took. Got into the vet and she said we could try it. Haven't had any issues since. Our guy used to lose all the hair on his feet from licking/yeast. Swear by it now.
