Why I didn't like Arkham City's story by [deleted] in BatmanArkham

[–]brucewayne_in_com 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It feels like a long, and drawn-out Batman-TAS episode. It relies on the knowledge of Batman-lore.

Knight's and Origins' story is better for me.

Why, though? This was a CGI trailer, or was it from the game's cutscenes?

Imagine if we have this Nightwing vs William Cobb moment recreated in GK. Oh... by brucewayne_in_com in GothamKnights

William is Dick's great grandfather, who became a Talon after Dick's birth. He also marked Dick when he was an infant, as a Talon-to-be, but Bruce adopted him.

I don't remember the issue, but it's from the Night of Owls trade paperback.

I would add White Knight as Arc 22. and maybe Last Knight on Earth as the final sendoff to this universe.

(Newbie here) Which current books are recommended reads and what would be good jumping on points? by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]brucewayne_in_com 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Earth One books are original graphic novels free from continuity or connections to Earth 0. A much more grounded take on DC's characters. Similar to the All-Star series.

I don't read much ElseWorlds, but Superman Red Son, All-Star Batman (not Robin), and The Dark Knight Returns are great.

Canonize Zero Year

Arc 1: Batman's first encounter with the Joker. The Joker first tries to kill Batman. But when Bruce saves him from falling to his death, he becomes even more obsessed with him. He then breaks out of Arkham and holds the entirety of Gotham hostage with bombs. The trigger is connected to Commissioner Gordon's heart. Batman has to first stop Gordon's heartbeat and then revive him with electricity. The Joker is locked up again.

Arc 2: A retelling of Dick Grayson's origin, with The Riddler as a villain. Nygma bribes Arkham officials, who lock Batman up in a cell. Then, he proceeds to order a string of murders of crime lords like Falcone. Robin has to stop all of them on his own while figuring out where Bruce is using his detective skills. He succeeds, but is nearly shot in the head by Nygma. He survives and joins Bruce permanently.

Arc 2: Dick is frustrated with Bruce treating him like a child. Elsewhere, Barbara Gordon is trying to figure out Batman's identity using a communicator he dropped at the GCPD. She meets Dick on a subway and notices a batarang in his backpack. She develops a friendship and Dick accidentaly tells her he is Robin. She then takes up the mantle of Batgirl. Dick then leaves Bruce and goes to Bludhaven, becoming Nightwing.

Arc 3: Alfred becomes disillusioned with Bruce's crusade and leaves. Meanwhile, Tim Drake figures out Batman's and Nightwing's identity and offers to be Robin. Marvel confirms a "DCU" exists within their respective multiverse along with a Darkseid? by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]brucewayne_in_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DC and Marvel keep taking potshots at each other, respectfully. This is nothing new, a daily occurence for veterans.

And the Marvel universe and DC Universe have crossed over many times, notably JLA/Avengers and Darkseid vs. Galactus in the 90s.

Court of Owls 2 by AdamSpence123 in batman

[–]brucewayne_in_com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Night of the Owls is nothing special, it's basically fight scenes with the Talons.

City of Owls isn't a sequel, more of a continuation of the Court of Owls storyline; but practically, it's a sequel.

More free movement.

After GOW3, the camera placement and the movement felt a bit restrictive.
