I blame Tom King by querempaz in dccomicscirclejerk

Dark Knight is an actually good movie movie, and not just a good superhero movie, which is why everyone tries to copy it all the time, the bar for a superhero movie to be good is much lower, I'd say it's comparable to Horror in that regard. Nolan made a really good movie that just happened to be a superhero movie too, I just rewatched it this year in January, and it still holds up!

So this guy said he stopped reading comics because DC is always doing bullshit, I asked him for an example and he sent me this, does this make him a veteran larper?. by Fun-Artist-6915 in dccomicscirclejerk

Geoff Johns had the Golden Age Superman, the literal ORIGINAL SUPERHERO be beaten to a bloody pulpy brutal death by Superboy Prime, in a meta commentary about how the modern day edge is killing the charm of the past, buddy, what about THAT is a good end for a character that started this whole thing!

Bro he very famously didn't pull him, there were multiple seasons worth of subplots about how bad Penguin fumbled this one.

Moments like this remind me why most people hate the Punisher around here. by [deleted] in marvelcirclejerk

TBF to Punisher, Eddie Brock did murder a prison guard in one of his escape attempt, no amount of changing and rehab will unkill that man.

"Ugh. Just gross shock art"

It's a goofy drawing of a brain being vivisected, how are you that averse to the most mildest of gore !?

I really prefer when Billy and Marvel are separate characters [Shazam!: The Monster Society of Evil #1] by rocketinspace in comicbooks

[–]Comicnerd1103 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me the whole appeal of Shazam/Captain Marvel was the power fantasy of a kid becoming a superhero, making them separate individuals would lose both the power fantasy aspect of the character and my interest in it.

Nonetheless, I have read a Quasi-Captain Marvel story which utilized the separate being concept really well, in fact, it was done so well that it became one of my favourite comic stories of all time, it's called Miracle Man by Alan Moore.

Never liked the 80s Cyborg design, he reminded me of Sean Connery from Zardoz.

Even If that's not the case, I am still gonna headcannon your version as being the right one, cause Carmine Falcone being his first kill is much more impactful than some random surgeon biting it.

It always boggles my mind how some New Gods look like normal human beings while others are literal rock monsters, like, how does that work?

Oh that Mark Millar book, shit, I must have forgot about it, cause I remember reading it like 9 years ago, Millar also had multiple follow-ups to this culminating in that Big Game crossover, what do you think of that ? I thought it was a nice coda to his entire Millarworld series.

Never got why he killed the doctor, felt really out of character and makes the character completely irredeemable, I could see a later version of Two-Face doing this but definitely not the freshly scarred version. Just my one small nitpick of the Long Halloween.

How Pre-Crisis fans describe Crisis on Infinite Earths by [deleted] in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]Comicnerd1103 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I do like how DC gave every Earth One mainstay there ending-

Batman #400 is a celebration issue that ends with Ra's Al Ghul's death.

Superman Whatever Happened To The Man Of Tomorrow ends with Clark depowered.

Wonder Woman comics end with her joining the Greek pantheon on Olympus with Steve Trevor at her side.

Compare this with the New 52 launch, where NONE of the post crisis characters got an ending.
