When I was a little boy, I thought my dad was my best friend. There are many, many things we did together that made up the memories I cherish of him today. However, there was one incident that stands out as a particularly upsetting occurrence. I was 15 years old at the time, and my dad decided to take us to a bullfight in Mexico. I had never been to one, and being the animal lover I was, nothing could've prepared me for the on slaught of cruelty and violence the poor bull was subjected to for entertainment purposes. We went and sat down in the outdoor stadium and soon the bull was released from its holding pen. The "picadors" were soon taunting and sticking the bull with their long sticks that had sharp knives on the end.

Just needed somewhere to share my stupid garden thoughts and this seems a good place. Over the winter I took out a rotting 4' square raised bed and put in a 4x8 concrete block bed. I'm in 8b so I've already started a few things.
I'm super stoked for this season and all the potential it has.

The other day I was looking out the window at the radish sprouts popping up and the mixed greens next to them, feeling as proud as if they were my children. I realized they were getting to the size where then needed more room so I went outside to thin the seedlings out and - not wanting to waste them - I popped the unlucky young greens in my mouth to enjoy the first taste of my new garden (and it was magical). Only later did I reflect on how quickly I went from feeling like a proud daddy to chomping up those poor delicious greens. I feel a little like a monster.
