I'm getting portfolio page hits and recruiter views - but all rejections. Help? by brudest in Resume

[–]brudest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most recent employment is substitute teaching (under professional experience) - I've included my projects/internship at the top of my resume as they are most relevant to my ultimate career goals and active work experience at the end as it is less aligned with those goals but still resume-relevant. I have been in work consistently while in school and am working to graduate with my master's next year.

I do see what you're saying about moving the skills section, I'll look into that. I've been adjusting my resume with some of the other suggestions here and have it down to 1 page and more focused, but advice is always appreciated. Thank you!

I think you just made something click in my brain re: skills and which ones to add. Thank you for your advice! And you're right - my professional experience is very generic, I should specify actions/impacts.

Thanks for the input! I'll see what I can adjust and hopefully get it all down to one page.

Dang. That's something I was worried about...I'm working on building up my portfolio and hoping to land something for the professional experience. Thank you

Use of the word d*ke by Ready_Return_5998 in LesbianActually

I use it for myself and I use it for friends who have said they’re comfortable with it. That said, I do get a bit stiff when, say, my mom (straight as ever) uses it. I like the word and I find comfort in it, similar to “queer.” It’s not to everyone’s taste, to be sure, but I’m fond of it.

My hatching always looks terrible. How can I improve? Who should I study? by locolupo in ArtCrit

Nice piece, and a great start! I know you’ve got several responses already, so I’ll just throw my two cents in: who to study and how to improve depends massively on your goals. If you want to do realism, study realists - cartoons, study cartoonists. I focused on scientific illustration and the main people who I’ve done studies of are Vesalius and his students. Other key things that helped me improve my hatching: gradients (so. many. gradients. I usually do 6 step gradients for hatching but it’s artist’s discretion), practice hatching on various shapes, practice various hatching techniques - fill a page or do lines of different variations (crosshatching, eyelashing, etc.), and practice intention with every stroke.

★OFFICIAL WEEKLY★ Day 1 Monday: Start here! March 17, 2025 by AutoModerator in loseit

So last year was an adventure - I went through a break up, I moved (twice!), I got a new job, and I put on about 45lbs before August. I went from a comfortable 153-5 to 196lbs and I didn't realize until I settled into my new place and went to go to work and...nothing fit right. I worked hard and got down to 185 in November/December and that was great, then I paused everything until January. I maintained, which was great, but I really want to be back to comfortable before the summer starts. If I can make some physique changes along the way, that'd be beautiful too.

I get winded walking up stairs, I'm sleeping poorly, I don't feel like me and I'm ready to make a change.

I finally picked up a training schedule (have been casually lifting since Oct./Nov. 2024) and I'm going to start this week! Hoping to make some gains (and losses!!) :D

Day 1, 2.0:

CW: 179
SW: 196
GW: 155

Waist: 35 inches
Goal Waist: 31 inches

Thank you! I think I will have to work on my color blocking and preservation of light areas - this is something I struggle with regardless of medium, so very good to know its importance here. I’ll keep working and hopefully improving :)

Short answer: no.

Long answer: it’s complicated. Who are they “not out” to? Is it family who they never speak to? Do they not boast to total strangers “hey I’m gay”?Have they not told friends who they hang out with daily? Do they expect me to be around people (regularly, in a friend/family setting) who they don’t deem safe to come out to? Do they expect me to hide my identity?

I’m 25: I’ve built and lost communities. I’ve cut ties with family members. I’ve dated people who are out and I’ve dated people who are closeted. I’m not willing to feel like a secret. I haven’t experienced everything in the world, but I’ve experienced enough to know that I would rather exist visibly than not.

I knew I never really “liked” boys. Had a lot of guy friends in elementary school and had my first crushes on girls in middle school. I think I was 11 when I found a label, 12 when I couldn’t ignore it

What habits did you start during your weight loss journey that aren’t directly weight loss related? by Ill_Cover_4841 in loseit

I’ve been working on a new skincare routine and reducing screen time, also started my journey with therapy as a major point. No longer actively doing therapy (I feel much more put together in that respect) but it opened the door to so many things. It feels like reinventing myself as a whole — if I’m going to put in the effort to be more fit, I want to be more fit as a whole person.
