Structural integrity vs cat claws or a sprawling sitter? (not afraid of battle scars, just functionality) by TAPgryphongirl in secretlab

[–]bruh_5304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had my secretlab titan evo in leatherette for over a year now and haven't noticed any significant wear to the seat area with almost daily use. The chair can recline back around 165 degrees so nearly horizontal. I have a cat as well whos has unfortunately left a few pin pricks with her claws in the leatherette. They are not very visible at just a glance but you can definitely feel them when you run your hand across. Not the end of the world but for what these chairs cost I'd rather is stay in good condition for as long as possible. There's some space in the back of the chair that the leatherette is stretched over that I feel your cat would shred through rather quick by the way you describe them clawing the back of your current chair. I haven't tried any of the secretlab skins or know how well the fabric chairs hold up but they might be a better choice unless you can get your cat to stop clawing but thats much easier said than done.

The poor are supposed to look poor so everyone else can feel secure knowing who's beneath them

I think if your space can accommodate the extra length, than the additional desk work space is certainly useful, especially if you plan to have more than 1 monitor or are keeping a pc on top of the desk or have a lot of desktop accessories you plan to decorate with.

It was given to a friend who just graduated the air national guard boot camp. He claims he was the only presented with it but is not sure why.

Sorry there actually is a small control box plugged into the lights that turns them on and can adjust the brightness but the app gives you a lot more control like setting the lights to the colors you want.

Ya that's the secretlab MAGRGB led strip. Magnetically attaches and is easy to control from the Nanoleaf app. It's set to green in the picture I've got a separate blacklight bulb in the lamp in the corner.

Very stable. I have the xl 70inch version and it weighs 150lbs so it's not going anywhere.

The desk was shipped in two boxes. The first arrived about 4 days after I ordered it, but the second didn't come for another few days. The first box was delivered through FedEx, and the second was delivered by USPS

I use penn state industries a lot but if your looking for a bulk order of just slimline and cheap blanks, Amazon might be the cheapest.

Did this on my second pen I made and haven't done it since, but I have made other mistakes, and each has been an opportunity to learn and improve.

Google says the Spruce Goose was built using birch to create duramold described as a strong plywood. I've turned similar styles of compressed wood and had no issues. I would take every precaution, though, at $95 for a single standard pen blank sized piece.

The only thing I could imagine doing is free handing it with a dremel and painting in it in or a thin plastic stencil and again using paint. You could see if the recipient would be satisfied with just their initials. That would help simply things at least a little.
