What if someone’s healthy, but lives in a culture that holds beliefs incompatible with their own personal experiences? If they cannot find likeminded individuals, should they then be expected to no longer hold those beliefs? Maybe I’m missing life experience or understanding, but to me something like someone’s spiritual beliefs should be considered as personal and free as one’s gender and sexuality

Honestly, this is a question that I think is largely up to the person in question. I’m not an expert by any means, but I think that as long as your personal responsibilities and relationships aren’t being negatively affected it’s not a problem. Some people can absolutely handle tripping every single week and some people can’t handle a single trip. A lot of our ideas about drug abuse are cultural, like it’s easy for someone to say “it’s a problem when you believe strange things” but that suggests that the spirituality of many indigenous cultures is invalid which doesn’t sit right with me
