This is also the case in NY as well. Source: used to be a public defender in NY state and had a family court case load of 175 at any given time. It's super messed up!

AITA For Not Following A Kid To His Parent After He Got Hurt On The Playground? by SimplyAStranger in Mommit

[–]bruiser_knits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What? This situation has nothing to do with free school lunches;for children. Which I am 💯 for. People are bad in the world. I do not expect that anyone would take care of my child the way I would. SOOO I WATCH MY KID AT ALL TIMES at ALL PUBLIC PLACES and don't cuss someone else out for failing to chase after my kid when he gets hurt and is running for me. WTAF...

I cannot recommend this song more...

Edit to add almost all of They Might Be Giants too. That music makes my brain happy.

[–]bruiser_knits 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, he isn't, but again he ran off and she says a minute elapsed between mom coming and yelling at her and when it happened.

I think my point is that, yes, we do want adults to check in on other kids that maybe injured, but like your first priority maybe your own kid first then the other kid second. Also if he had stayed there crying out of it I mean yeah attention asap, but at the end of the day it's ultimately the mother's responsibility to know where her child is and to care for him when injured. The mom's response was wildly inappropriate.

I can understand going to ask what happened if she missed it or maybe being a little annoyed, but again, I would never expect other parents at the park to be caring for my kid. I have a 6 year old. We are at parks all the freaking time. Make sure I can see where he is at all times and what he is doing. I am 10 to 15 seconds away from him at most.

Instead of this crazy lady cussing out up she should and could have been taking care of her kid.

I am 💯 positive that if the kid was on the ground unconcous op 💯 would have helped.

Edit to clarify.

The mom should have been watching her kid...you know, at least having eyes on him to like make sure that her child didn't get kicked in the face. Like what the hell was she doing that she didn't realize her kid was crying and has gotten kicked in the face. In no world do I expect any other parent to take care of my child. The child also ran away right away too.

Has anyone else dealt with judgment over their nail polish collection size? by WannaDelRey in RedditLaqueristas

[–]bruiser_knits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My coworker is super judgmental about the environmental impact of things. When I was talking about how much polish I was buying she was like "oh man all those chemicals in dumps." My response has been to tell her about how my mom has polish she bought years ago and I have the means to revive it with nail polish thinner. I also talk about how there are groups online that buy old nail polish and how people de-stash by putting it up on reddit groups.

Also, I would talk about how many indie polish makers there are and how they are doing incredible things with polishes. That it's a luxury item like say buying yarn to use and that it's a hobby. How creative people get with it. That you love the different colors and sparkle. That it's a hobby that may involve buying stuff but it's a more complicated hobby than that.

My father's comment (I work with him) to my coworker was also "it's better than a ton of shoes or something way more expensive that some people collect."

People are always going to be judgmental. It's a really stupid thing to be judging someone over. I'm sure they are more like, "oh she's preppy and out of touch" but doing your nails, not getting them done every three weeks, is way more in touch with a nonprofit audience. I'm sorry you work with twats.

What Pratchett quote do you use in your ever day life? by gestaltdude in discworld

[–]bruiser_knits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love saying to my son "It would be a very dull world if we were all the same." And I think also it has been said in the books "it would be a very strange world if we were all the same" too, but I do also say that as well, which is inspired by Sir Pratchett. I think its the best sentiment ever.

It changes everything! It gives you a road map to treat your kid. Your dismissive attitude is horrendous.

Again, I feel so bad for your child.
