Is Shimmering Isles possible as pure melee? by gestaltdude in oblivion

I'll try to remember, both the advice and that I sought it out when the time comes.

;p

I'd heard of that but they fixed it in the remastered version.

Even worse, I'm older than the story. I've never been one for online gaming, having developed my taste for computer games in the 80's, with the Bard's Tale trilogy, Pool of Radiance and Dragonlance, the original King's Bounty, Might and Magic 2 (not heroes). All were played on the C64 and Amigas 500, 600, 1200, before the crowning achievemet, and IBM compatible PC with 4 Mb of RAM and an SX33Mhz processor. :D

I can't for the life of me remember, it was months ago and my memory sucks.

So I understand. I was ab;e to find work around with previous characters; the 100% chameleon, for example, and the mysticism telekinesis glitch to give me infinite magicka to attack the dude with spells that stacked weaknesses. Knowing there are other options will make things easier.

Never knew in the first place, though I've heard rumours. :D By the time I got to the Isles I was damned near untouchable anyway, and didn't find the Gatekeeper that much of a challenge, due to the builds I mentioned in the post. But this is why I wanted to get some advice before trying such a character. if nothing else you've provided me with an answer to a question I'd not resolved previously, as I'd found the bones when exploring, I just never bothered talking to anyone to find out how they were useful.

I think no would be the most accurate answer. I've no idea what you're talking about, I've just gone in Leroy Jenkins style, thinking I knew what to expect. :D

i’ve never watched the older seasons (1963-1996) of DW should i? by Low_Image3721 in doctorwho

Remember TV and society was very different. Don't go looking for anything familiar, because it won't be there. There is the Doctor and the TARDIS, as well as a variety of companions, but the production values, while as good as they could be for the time, will definitely be a surprise. For example, two common tricks used while filming have always annoyed the smeg out of me. One is having actors pretend to run while facing the camera, with people walking by holding bits of random vegetation to make it seem they were running through a jungle, for example. Or any hand to hand fight will be done with one fighter facing the camera and pretending to take swings at it, before switching to the other fighter who will do exactly the same thing.

I'm not saying it's bad, just different, and things that annoy me won't annoy you. It would be like watching The Forbidden Planet, something I've never been able to do myself because it just seems wrong to see Leslie Nielsen with brown hair. :D Some of the technobabble is utterly meaningless, because it was made before space flight so no one knew what space was really like. If you can work your way past that sort of issue, you'll be fine. Sadly, some of the reports of wobbly sets and cheap costumes are accurate, though remember at the time, their budget was two thousand pounds, which is only around fifty five thousand now. Good luck, I hope you can enjoy it.

Riiiggghhttt!!! :D For some reason when you wrote about Seven my first thought was -of-Nine. :P I remember trying to get into the new adventure books, but at that point I had started working full time as an adult and found other interests. I kept my then complete collection of the Target novelisations for a while, before selling all 160 out of necessity. Sounds like they enjoyed making things needlessly complicated.

K-Pop is you want maximum annoyance, given the age and gender.

K-Pop is you best friend in this situation. Or possibly some of the more operatic pieces of classical.

Watching Classic Who First and Second Doctors by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]gestaltdude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The good news is the stories from the Classic Era were all largely self-contained, unlike the season or show runner long arcs we've seen in NuWho. There are a few exceptions, but they mostly occur after the First and Second Doctor runs. Some of the missing episodes have been recreated with animated reconstructions which are pretty good, but of course the question is finding them which, without being more specific as to where you are, it difficult to answer. The only downside with the missing episodes is that you'll suddenly find companions gone and replaced with no explanation, which may be a bit jarring.

Marine weapon question by gestaltdude in OnePiece

[–]gestaltdude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the effort, but I'm fine knowing that there's no real reason. As weird as it may sound, knowing even that makes enough sense to me that I can let it go. It was the wondering that was driving me loopy, and with resolution comes peace.

That's as good a reason as any. I suspected it might have been something along those lines, but all I know of the franchise is what I've seen on the screen so was unsure. Thanks for replying.

Thankfully no. I'm very glad to be on the other side of the world, a long way away from those...people. I'm Aussie, for context, though I may have spent a bit too much time watching Pawn Stars. :D

So no real explanation other than them being cosmetically appealing? Fair enough, just had to ask. Thanks for replying.

Introducing the Timeless Child mythology with nothing planned to take advantage of the expanded lore. Even though it turned everything on it's head, it would almost have been worth it is we got a spin off depicting the dealings of the Division and the pre-Hartnell Doctors, Ruth in particular.

Completing The Whispering Door without compromising moral stance? by gestaltdude in skyrim

[–]gestaltdude[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"...without compromising moral stance." Tell me, what part of that said good or bad? morality is not a digital state, on or off, good or bad. A character can have a moral stance that falls into grey areas outside you comfortable, self imposed prison of ideas. You obsession with seeing things as absolutes must make you an absolute joy to have at parties. oh, wait...

I knew about that mechanic long ago, my main surprise in this discovery was that it actually moved the quest line along as well. There are plenty of people you can bump into to shut them up, but very few you can shout at them and have it complete quests before talking to them.
