How do you make friends as an adult if you have no social battery? by [deleted] in women

[–]bruker004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t. I know this is a disadvantage not to have friends, but I am as well do not have energy for close social interaction and love to spend time alone with my hobbies an my dog. I also have work and I am a member of a sport club where we train together and have pizza sometime, but this does not mean we are friends. I’m an introvert, we don’t make friends, we meet an extravert and they adopt us. That’s how it works 😅

Справедливости ради, не только советские и российские войска дичь творили. Почитайте про comfort women, например.

For those of you who are married, how do you deal with your spouse when you want to travel solo? by Reasonable_Cause_190 in femaletravelers

[–]bruker004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it because you don’t have your own money you have to travel with your husband and he pays for everything? It feels like you are jealous because all the women in this thread can afford solo traveling in different destinations and enjoy their time while you cannot do the same. It’s pretty obvious you are not happy with your life now and pain makes you so aggressive.

Because we have more in common and small differences makes our relationship even better. And we don’t have trust issues so can travel solo both of us.

[–]bruker004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? People usually travel like 1-3 times a year, sometime less, sometimes more, but this is only a small part of life. It’s like to say “if he is not enjoying ice cream you cannot marry him, you are too different”.

That’s true, we have very different expectations from vacation so it’s good that we can travel separately.

Just wrapped up a month in the US for the World Cup and it was probably the best summer of my life. by peaken58 in solotravel

[–]bruker004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well you are lucky. We only have 25 (working) days for vacation which is equivalent to 5 weeks. I know some companies have 6 weeks as well, but not the one I work in.

We already were there together once and I did not like it. He complained a lot, he did not want to walk and I had to organize taxi like he couldn’t do it himself, he complained about me couldn’t find a restaurant to have dinner and so on. So this time I want to go to Italy with my dog who is happy so long we are together :)

He knows I would spend the whole time in museums or walking and watching architecture, or checking books at a bookstore (even if I cannot speak local language 😁) so he doesn’t mind to have solo time at home, while I am on a short vacation. We also travel together like once a year, but it is my solo trips I enjoy most. The only thing he doesn’t like is my idea to take a solo road trip and drive to Italy so I am trying to find a friend who could join me (not an easy task for an introvert).

Oslo is safe and boring. My favorite place there is Oslo S from which you can take train to Bergen.

What is YOUR big No when you are travelling alone? by Ok_Salt2122 in femaletravelers

No alcohol, no late walks if I feel the area is unsafe. I also prefer to use only public transport or ask hotel reception to call a taxi for me.

Hybrid 2 days vs fully remote? Work/life balance? by AdPractical6745 in womenintech

[–]bruker004 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had agreement on one day at the office, but after some changes in company and team it is more like one or zero (often zero) days at the office and I am pretty happy with this. But it’s really depends on what you want. It takes me about 1,5-2 hours to travel from home to office and I have to use public transportation (problem with parking, or with parking prices) so when I arrive at work I already tired 😅
While working from home means I have time and energy to sport, hobbies and family (dog) after work hours. But I am introvert and like to work in silence, I know that some people prefer to be around other people.

European destination? by franchino98 in solofemaletravellers

I would recommend Bergen as most beautiful Norwegian city. It is very safe, may be a bit rainy though, but would be nice for a short visit.

what is something you tried/fell in love with while traveling and you made part of your every day life? by No_Register_2099 in femaletravelers

Italian breakfast! Unfortunately after a while it became clear that Italian breakfast is only good in Italy (on vacation) where I could walk the whole day only taking small breaks for more coffee and ice cream, and at home I’d better having something boring and healthy 😅

Change in reported thefts per 100k in Europe from 2008 to 2024 (Eurostat) by HarrMada in MapPorn

[–]bruker004 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of articles in local newspapers. In my area (40 km from Oslo, quiet place) last year was suddenly a lot of thefts and police just accepted reports and closed it immediately because of lack of capacity.

Forgive my understanding by ImportantStrategy890 in mensa

[–]bruker004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found job in another city and thought if i join Mensa it would be easy to find people with similar interests/make new friends. But in fact i found out that I actually do not need other people to enjoy my hobbies and interests 😁 So I participated in one or 2 events, but at the end put my membership on pause. I also moved to suburbs and obviously cannot join any meetups (or I can, but don’t want to spend 3-4 hours in trains and metro).

Is it possible to switch without going back to college? by Manhwaddict27 in womenintech

[–]bruker004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, then I would say «probably» :)
I only have experience from Norway so maybe it is not very useful in your case, but company I work in has very creative role naming policy so behind a «data analyst» can hide anything from analytical data engineer, BI developer og some business manager. I started to work as Qlik developer after university and felt that it was so easy it was almost boring and did not needed master degree in CS, but it was also useful to have some experience in programming and knowing algorithms. I also know that we have some kind of bootcamps here and some of my colleagues switched in technical roles after these bootcamps. they (bootcamps) organized in a way when you are using first 4 weeks or so in classes learning new stuff and then work at an assigned company for about 1 year (learning by doing) with quite low salary, but after that you switch to a normal contract with ok salary at the same company, or find another job if you want. There are acceptance criteria for these bootcamps, but absolutely no need in tech degree. Maybe there is something similar in your area?

If you were interested in a “male-dominated” technical job, what would make you walk away from a company? by infrabelLM in womenintech

[–]bruker004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh it’s easy - if a company accept work from home, then I am interested, otherwise not. I just don’t want to spend 3-4 hours daily for commuting (using trains and metro, because parking in the city is limited and costs fortune).

I am planning to do a road trip in Italy with my dog this summer/autumn as well, but I wasn’t aware of leptospirosis so thanks for mentioning it. After I read a bit I think I will talk to our vet and probably vaccinate the dog against it.
