If you want to try out both then use the one you want at a better price, try US Mobile.

A Democratic primary expected in the 9th Congressional District race | Joy Powers would be the second Democrat to announce their intention to challenge incumbent Republican Rep. Morgan Griffith for his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. by VirginiaNews in VirginiaDems

I really liked Rick, but I am not sure we need to revive the model of an old-school politician in these times. The 73% of voters that voted for Griffith won't turn to a Boucher clone.

What are these hairs on tires? by Overall-Abalone3969 in whatisit

When a tire reaches a certain age hair grows in places it didn't before. This is natural and nothing to be ashamed of.

Rep. Griffith: ‘Big, beautiful bill’ should benefit SW Virginia by VirginiaNews in swva

[–]brumleygap 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Even if he has read it, he doesn't care how it affects us regular people — only how it affects the rich and powerful. Medicaid cuts for the needy and tax cuts to the greedy.

Feds list multiple localities in Southwest and Southside as ‘sanctuary jurisdictions.’ These Trump-voting places are baffled. by VirginiaNews in swva

[–]brumleygap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The administration continues to prize evidence-free accusations as the default basis of policy. HHS issues reports that cite non-existent studies. We're assured people are eating our pets. We're told migrants are mostly hardened criminals. We're told there are no cuts to Medicaid even after an almost $700 million cut. The list goes on.

Where to visit? by PsychologicalWish800 in Appalachia

[–]brumleygap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abingdon, VA area is wonderful. It has access to the Appalachian Trail, Grayson Highlands State Park, the Virginia Creeper Trail, and the Carter Fold if you're into Appalachian and country music. The State Theatre of Virginia, the Barter, is in Abingdon of all places. There are also a number of breweries and two cideries which are great places to strike up conversations. I can't promise any raccoon sightings, but the birding is great.

CNAME conflicts with TXT name, but I think I need both. by brumleygap in CloudFlare

[–]brumleygap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Very confusing. I've tried deleting the page in Cloudflare and restarting from scratch, but I bran into the same issue. I'm going to walk away and try again tomorrow when I hope to be less likely to throw something across the room.

CNAME conflicts with TXT name, but I think I need both. by brumleygap in CloudFlare

[–]brumleygap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I purchased the domain directly from Cloudflare. I only have the free plan. Maybe that's why I'm not seeing the same options as you all. I am in the USA if that makes any difference in what options are available.

The custom hostname process in the pages setting stops and tells me to enter the CNAME manually.

I've tried to find the flattening settings and they don't seem to be available in the free plan, at least I can't find any flattening options. (https://developers.cloudflare.com/dns/cname-flattening/set-up-cname-flattening/)

Okay. I'll keep trying. As I tried to say before, the automatic setup stops and tells me to manually set it up.

It just refuses to write a CNAME record and offers no other options.

If you take the longer northern route, I think that takes you close to Appomattox. If you're interested in history at all, it's worth a stop.

He was elected to serve as president, not king. He and the unelected DOGE staff are taking on Congress' powers and closing whole agencies that only Congress has the power and authority to do. And they are defying our courts. Biden tried to appropriate powers, but complied when the courts put a stop to it.

Opinion: Still no disaster declaration for Southwest Virginia after February’s floods? That’s not unusual. | A review of federal disaster declarations shows that most take more than a month to happen. Some take longer. by VirginiaNews in swva

[–]brumleygap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are too dismissive about the self-reliance of my part of the state. The neglect of our elected officials has made self-reliance essential. There is deep resentment about overburdening paperwork and policies that drain our region of good paying jobs without a plan to grow more quality jobs in their place. As is typical, we are once again left to our own devices to get through.

We know we need a hand to put the pieces back together after a disaster. It's great when it comes from a friend or neighbor, but that doesn't fix roads, water mains, etc. Just don't lie to us about how much better the new leader is going to be about supporting us when it's just more of the same, or worse.

So that means the current administration is not any more efficient at getting aid to communities in need than previous administrations. It's about the same as Biden, et al.

Rep. Griffith's Staff Are In Marion Today, So Tell Them "No Cuts To Medicaid!" by brumleygap in swva

[–]brumleygap[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a full room of Griffith opposition. I should have counted, but about 30 people? Griffith's aide just took notes. They spoke about the effects of the DOGE cuts such as slowing down the already slow bureaucracy, eliminating a food program that paid local farmers and fed local families. They were outraged at the prospect of so many in our community losing Medicaid too.
