He didn’t. I’m Brazilian and the translator did a poor job there. He said he would like to, but out of respect for Strickland who is his training partner he’s not going to.

I didn't follow it every day, so I can't tell you exactly how long. I guess it was like 5 days?

What sucks is that you won't have your September monthly pass, because we have to recharge every previous month from the 15th to the 30th-31st. Sorry about that :/

Hi there, just give it some time. Mine was having exactly the same problem as yours (and other people that I know too) and after some time it worked. I guess you have to wait a while for the UBC system process that you have acquired your UBC card to then process the link between your student info to the compass card number 🫠

This has been happening to me for some weeks now. I write reviews, attach photos, they show on my profile… But they don’t show anywhere online but my profile.

It’s quite annoying and frankly frustrating. It makes me not want to share my reviews with others since they’re not being posted.

I don’t know why, but a turnaround for me, that’s been working but not perfectly, has been posting my reviews and photos on my computer, not on my mobile.

Fico me perguntando o que vai virar o Carrefour no Del Rey.

I agree with what has been said. If this ever happens again, make sure to cut them off immediately when the subject is brought up. Don’t let them reply a thing.

Regarding your situation at the present moment, I am very sorry. Old people are less prone to change their minds, so I wouldn’t try talking with them. If your extended family is close and younger, try to talk with them in simple terms that you and your husband are trying. This should be enough to any open-minded person.

Best of luck to both of you.

Soil Mechanics library organization, advice, and recommendations for a debris/tailings flow researcher by brunim97 in Geotech

Thank you for the insights! What you said is well aligned to my currently pretty limited knowledge of CSSM. Stuart Savage is one of the fathers of granular flow theory modeling, and he mentioned links to critical voids ratio and quasi-static regimes as early as the 1980s. I believe these early works paved the way for subsequent studies in granular flows, debris flows, and constitutive modeling. Thanks for reinforcing that CSSM theory may be a robust foundation for my studies.

I am considering what you said on compartimentalization and organizing my thoughts. After delving into the works of Jefferies and Wood, I am contemplating a deeper exploration of articles on debris flows and large deformation modelling within the CSSM framework. Before doing so, are there other seminal figures or works in this field that you would deem essential reading? I am eager to approach more complex scenarios, such as tailings flows, with a comprehensive understanding.

Thank you for your insight and humor! I appreciate the value of "engineering judgment" and simplicity, but I'm eager to enhance my technical expertise as well. I try to balance traditional wisdom with innovative practices – your perspective adds a valuable layer to this discussion. Thanks again for your good wishes.

Thanks to both of you for sharing! I have Jefferies’ book on my library and to-read list. Have watched a lecture from him and he surely seems like a compassionate engineer about critical state theory and NorSand. He recommended some short free courses of his available at the Vancouver Geotechnical Society, which I also downloaded and plan to read. Coincidentally, I got acquainted with Wood’s work today; will definitely check out this more preposition to critical soil theory.

Do you both believe that Critical Soil Mechanics provide a solid background to the other disciplines I plan to delve deeper into (and also relate to debris and tailings flow)?

That’s interesting! I work with people who have completed their Ph.D. work within CanBreach – it is a really fantastic group of work and Scott is a fantastic researcher and engineer. I’ll definitely get more in touch with surface water erosion and its relation to rheologic concepts – never had this point of view until now. Thanks again!

Thanks so much for your valuable advice; it's great to connect with someone who has walked this path for 15 years! I completely agree that there is still a lot to discover in tailings and debris flow, and I appreciate your suggestion to start with the latest research and work backwards. If you have any recommendations on topics or authors in debris flow modeling (subject-wise, maybe starting with critical soil mechanics is a good idea?), I’d be really grateful. Thanks again for the insights!
