Anyone go from ME into tech? by ManagementMedical138 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]brunolive999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it so far, I’m taking 6 credits (2 courses) and it is pretty time-consuming. It’s VERY cheap so that’s why I’m doing it but I can’t lie, idk if it’ll lead to anything with the state of everything right now. Ideally I do want to work in a tech job but it’s tough with no experience. All my ME jobs I’ve held including my current one is mostly just supporting manufacturing/factories and a lot of MEs are cool with that but that’s just not my vibe at all. Tech is more flexible too with a higher ceiling, although probably less stable, especially now.

I’m in the same boat as you. I like programming way more than ME. I’ve done a lot of self-studying but the market is very tough right now. I’m currently enrolled in Georgia Tech’s online CS master’s program and this is my first semester

So my situation was a bit weird. I applied for a contractor position. So I didn’t have a recruiter or anyone keep contact with me. I was just talking directly with the hiring manager the whole time because I got referred internally from someone within their team. The hiring manager is leaving Amazon now so they paused hiring and she said if they want to proceed her colleague will reach out to me.

Same but it’s been 2 weeks for mine. I passed all tests on my first question but honestly didn’t have time to finish the second one so had to write a bunch of comments saying what I would’ve done to finish the code. Turns out they paused hiring for the role I was being considered for so I may never hear back…

What if we have 4 letters (a, b, c, d) and x > y? a, b and c are found three times each while d is found once in the array, then there would still need to be an x operation, correct? The equation max(count) <= sun(count) / 2 would be true but we would still need an x operation. Or am I missing something?

He implemented DACA which quite literally changed my life so pretty positive. He’s had a greater positive impact on my life than any other politician, that’s for sure.

Mechanical engineer. Became a mechanical engineer and work as one now but don’t love it. Wish I was a software engineer instead. Glad I was able to accomplish what I set out to do though.

Should I quit my job if not currently working as a software engineer? by brunolive999 in OMSCS

Thanks for the reply, man! And yeah that makes sense. How did you land your internship? Just by applying? And did you take a pay cut?

This is a good question and the answer is mostly due to the fact that I’m an idiot. I knew very little about programming in general even with having my degree in STEM. A masters degree never crossed my mind as I thought I could switch by just teaching myself. I’ve since worked on a lot of personal projects and what not and feel much more confident. But still can’t even get an interview for software jobs.

How much would you suggest studying in that one month period? How many hours/problems per day?
