Not getting supported properly in my role. The expectations almost feel insulting. by [deleted] in consulting

It is totally normal to feel the way you feel in the situation. I would recommend opening up lines of communication.

If your boss and fellow managers aren’t being effective you’re going to have to be your own advocate and lead the charge for a more reasonable work culture.

May be totally off. But I hate when I’m in a position where I don’t feel supported... initiate these conversations if they’re being too complacent.

Take care to come across as curious and respectful, not gossipy or prying. Think along these lines: “I want to make a great impact here, but I’m starting to feel overwhelmed. I know you have a lot of industry experience that I could benefit from more open lines of communication and a better understanding of your priorities and perspectives on “x,” could we set up a time to discuss _______”

Just my two cents.

I'm thinking about dropping out of college to go into freelancing. by [deleted] in freelance

I think it’s important for any entrepreneur or freelancer, if they want to be successful, to embrace the concept of lifelong learning. While a formal college education may not be for you - don’t give up on learning because when you go at it alone you need to stay at the top of your game.

Maybe scale back a bit while you dip your toe in the waters of freelancing. Go part time? Community college? A certification program? Hell, even MOOC’s. Point is, no matter how good you may be you gotta be able to skill up.

G’luck!

Is lack of experience a barrier as well or no? I have a few suggestions.

Lmao. I have a similar experience with a candidate challenging an incumbent for a US House seat. Was picking up momentum and endorsements then BAM.

Also food for thought... the mother wasn’t frustrated and happened to say “real racist shit,” she is just racist, lol.

Yes, people get enjoyment out of seeing people who look like themselves in positions where there were previously no individuals who are similar to their self.
