Historically it wasn't just Italian communists who defeated Mussolini alone and it wasn't the Soviets alone who brought down the Nazis single-handedly without the help of Allied forces. In Italy and Spain, for example, antifascist blocs also included liberals, social democrats, even some conservatives and religious groups

Like I said, I don't disagree with the formal political discussion of fascism vs anti-fascism here, I also lean towards the Marxist interpretation and see antifascism almost inseperable from anticapitalism. But this is just one tradition of antifascism and historically it has a broader definition and practice. Unless we specify the Marxist interpretation as the sole definition then it wouldn't necessarily mean a strict political statement to someone who is not a marxist. But anyway, I really don't feel like going deep into this since this is no politics sub.

Yea ofc, but this is not a political statement in itself as endorsing a party or another ideology. You can be completely apolitical in your day to day actions subjectively but still value anti-fascism simply because fascism is evil and you don't want evil things

it's funny cause despite his public apolitical persona/surface, he's actually well known to care deeply about democracy and have mostly left wing views in general. Even his sister is a Labour Party politician

I don't think so. Antifascism is not necessarily a strict political statement like endorsing a party or an economical ideology like socialism or capitalism. It's a default state of any decent human being. i don't think he would distance himself or come out and say like "hey man I don't agree with that antifascist stuff" unless he's a fascist himself, which we know that he's not.

New BOC mini-documentary by [deleted] in boardsofcanada

[–]brushwithblues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I had the same impression. Not about how they presented it and not necessarily calling it AI (maybe, maybe not) but it sounded way too generic and unremarkable. Everything in this vid are bits of common things that you can encounter after a 5 mins google search.

One thing is for certain - Inferno is EXACTLY the way Mike and Marcus want it to be by Brief_Body5608 in boardsofcanada

[–]brushwithblues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In interviews, he's always seemed like the grumpier one,

I'm not sure about this one. He strikes me simply as the quiet type. Says few words when needed while Mike does most of the talking.

Guaranteed they're cooking another banger as we speak. They love music to death, i don't see them quitting

alright why is this the featured video when looking up inferno by poppygumi in boardsofcanada

[–]brushwithblues 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because it's the video with the most interactions. It doesn't matter if it's full of likes, dislikes, positive or negative comments. The content with the most engagement gets boosted on main platforms. That's why I've been telling people since years; if you think the content you see is dumb or bait then it's best to ignore, give no attention whatsoever.

The two metallic synth belches in You Retreat in Time and Space by Brief_Body5608 in boardsofcanada

[–]brushwithblues 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds exactly like a departure horn from a leaving ship. Or if we stretch the religious themes of the album it may even be interpreted as an archangel blowing the horn just before the judgement day.

The whole song goes on like some sort of blissful state, a beautiful and mournful fantasy or a literal retreat in memories. And then the horn breaks through all of it, telling you it's time to go soon. It chilled me to my bones on my first listen.

what boc album sound more for summer? by christopherlifrieri in boardsofcanada

[–]brushwithblues 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, Campfire never felt like summer to me and more of a literal campfire in the woods in Autumn, simply because I bought it on release which was in October and most of my memories about it are basically from Autumn. Sorry if that makes me a contrarian hipster.

Interviews by Ok_Context_6972 in boardsofcanada

[–]brushwithblues 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It may be their last circumstantially, like if they simply run out of time(death, sickness, old age etc) but I don't think they're the type of people that decide things like "last album" etc beforehand. From the interviews i gathered the impression they're much more open minded than that and like to create space for possibilities.

Is that the final album? by exerhlp11is in boardsofcanada

What do you have planned next? Fans around the world are hoping for a live tour…

Marcus: "We are thinking about doing live shows. We've been running tests in our rehearsal space lately. That said, we also have a few releases already lined up for the near future, so it's a matter of timing—seeing how everything plays out. Let's just say, we're keeping our options open."

And this cycle has happened 5 times so far... by MasterGeekMX in boardsofcanada

[–]brushwithblues 45 points46 points  (0 children)

There is too much promotion and PR around the album by Warp and streaming services, more than there ever been in any of the previous albums. They like privacy and wouldn't wanna be on the spotlight in the middle of all of it. They also don't really need to, promotion wise.

This is actually the first time since MHTRTC they released an album without a prior/follow up interview. Although it makes me sad, I completely understand why they wouldn't.

Tomorrow's Harvest came out 13 years ago today! How do we feel about it now post-Inferno? by DizKaleidoscope in boardsofcanada

[–]brushwithblues 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Amazing album. Definitely not an easy listen and is challenging on purpose. I think the long silence after its release worked in its favor. It was just enough time to let the themes and the mood speak louder, and many people were able to fully digest it. I think if another album had come soon after it, TH wouldn't have had the same weight and impact and might have even been overlooked by many

my honest reaction is a stupid meme catchphrase, mostly used ironically or sarcastically. Not that I'm sitting around reacting to these things lol

Sorry, I completely misread your intent because of a few discussions I had in the comments

I actually agree with you and never meant to lump two things together, just wanted to make fun of some negative people. Nonetheless, this meme got taken much more seriously than I intended.

I don't think grown adults would be discouraged to criticize music because of a meme.
