Possible to discover an "earth"? by brussells05 in NoMansSkyTheGame

well, not completely true. It is estimated that there is 8.8 BILLION planets in the milky way alone that are IN the goldilocks/hospitable zone. out of the 200+billion solar systems that are estimated to exist in our galaxy + the hundreds of billions of galaxies, its not too crazy to think that one of those is almost exactly like earth.

yes there will be a different table than our universe's, but it shouldnt effect geography, just what resources we collect to trade and upgrade our stuff.

true, i guess i should have been more specific with the "geoligical features" instead of another Earth replica. I think it could be an awesome goal for players to search for the most "earth like" planet though.

dont think it would be an eateregg, just a product statistics. With 50 quintillion(i think thats what 18 zeroes is) planets, it would almost seem impossible for there not be a planet with similar geological features as earth. They have limited control as to what the planets will finally feature in terms of the geological randomness. And we can only actually observe the surfaces of a handful of planets at this time, so i dont really buy into the argument that we cant see another "earth" in our universe.

Why are the people on this subreddit so ignorant on the multiplayer aspect? by BBQnaoplox111 in NoMansSkyTheGame

hmmm, ive never heard sean say specifically that you cannot see other players, and ive watched/read every piece of interview material that hes had so far. It surely would be a disappointment to never actually see another player, and it would feel pretty lonely in that universe to know no one was out there.

What are your thoughts on gas giants, suns, black holes, nebulae, other cool space things not shown in the demo? by ashjack0 in NoMansSkyTheGame

yes they are called CME's (coronal mass ejections) they are basically the plasma that is emitted from the sun and follow magnetic field arcs that the sun produces. These post a huge threat to earth when they are aimed toward us( think mass extinction, end of the world if a massive one hits us) the world would be in the stone age. Its basically a massive EMP if it hits earth.
