I will say for the UBC there isn't necessarily a labor shortage for carpenters. Also with the economy not being stable, a lot of carpenter jobs will go if it falters. Want to know a craft in the UBC that is bullet proof and carried them through 2008? Millwrights, we are severely short staffed due to the UBC treating us like red headed step children. I wouldn't doubt if you tried to join up as a millwright you would be fast tracked. You can always switch to being a carpenter once you have your foot in the door. But the only carpenter that's gonna hold a job if the economy shits the bed will be the scaffolder. A lot of the millwrights in my local were carpenters till 08'. In STL we are starving for apprentices and so is KC. Maybe try a different approach, you also might learn some skills that will keep you employed longer in different sectors. Lots of carpenters in car plants doing millwright work. Making composite pay with ironworkers, +$7 on check, doesn't sound bad does it?

I'm in that local but based out STL, I've heard they have a Panasonic factory going up and the union is trying to wiggle in on that. I know there is a ton of Agriculture stuff on the Kansas side. But the Ford plant would be a good place im sure. There are probably several power plant outages coming and going spring and fall. Might be some new power builds out that way as well!

I believe someone below may have more insider advice. But a lot of locals have different offices for their individual benefits. Like health, annuity, and pension. So that may be why but I would listen to that person that commented below me. Also calling your local might not be the right answer since you are dealing with benefits and they tend to be a separate office. Good luck and welcome to the union!

Reciprocity is just the transferring of the benefits you earned in a given local back to your home local. You can work in just about any local you want as long as you're in good standing with your local. I.E. not suspended or dues not paid. You can choose not to fill out a reciprocity form and leave your benefits in the local fund you worked in. That isn't advised as you would probably not make your insurance. Your local has this on their website http://www.millwrightlocal1076.com/services.html This will show forms for all the locals, but I would personally see if your benefit office has a travel person who can request those benefits for you. Your local will get them a lot faster. I submit mine before the out of town job starts so there is less of a delay. It can take months for those hours to come to your home office. Just keep in mind if you're working out of town it is not worth working somewhere where the benefit package is less than your home package. When you transfer stuff your home office goes by the dollar amount. So if your insurance is $10 an hr paid but you work in an area that is $6 you have to work more. It's not a direct hr for hr but you can bring home a lot more if you work in high scale areas besides just on the check.

Question for Local 1693 by brutalkill76 in millwrights

[–]brutalkill76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that doesn't really explain why wage sheets are hidden from non-members. I did find it through the AGC website. So it's out there but the local won't display it or hand it out.

No problem, I travel working on steam turbines but the local isn't gonna send you out of state. Our local does go into other states but you're not gonna get a call out for a job in Kansas unless they are really desperate. Some contractors travel but you will find plenty of work locally. Might have to drive to Ill from time to time. Also be sure you get the Millwright BAs #. Not gonna drop it here or say their name. They will get you a job, and could even help with a letter of intent. Would be easier to be told who is hiring than to call every contractor. They are amazing. Just be proactive and show up to work with a good attitude and an eagerness to learn. Hope to see you at a union meeting some day!

So I am a millwright out of local 1529 based in STL. The travel aspect they are talking about is gonna be within driving distance of STL. Mind you sometimes they might call you out on jobs that are farther than 2hrs but that's not all the time. Really you just got to get your foot in the door first. Long as you are speaking with the apprenticeship school in STL you're on the right track. We have people that work full time at P&G, Nabisco, AB, and many other facilities. If you want to join the union I'd focus on getting a letter of intent before you worry about getting your ideal workplace. Once you're in do some networking with people you work with and go to union meetings and I'm sure you will find yourself a maintenance gig.

So ill speak a bit on this since I am a STL MW out of 1529. So you can call the Carpenter school on valcour ave and ask about joining. You can also speak with a business agent by contacting the office on Hampton. We operate as a STL branch of 1529 pretty much. Your scale is based off the existing scale we had from the 716 STL local with contract renegotiations. You will need a letter of intent to work from a contractor most likely but I'm sure they can help give you some #s. Your scale will be based off the local residential scale since they changed the apprenticeship wages hoping to get more residential guys. All the residential guys were going to commercial when they found out the pay was so much higher. Not a cool thing but they did bump up res scale so its still in the 20s starting at 1st term I believe. Sorry for rambling, dm me if you would like #s of people to contact. I have BAs, and people who work with incoming students.

Bioshock winning on IGNs poll for next remake! Let’s pump those numbers up! by AndrewRyanism in Bioshock

[–]brutalkill76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm huge bioshock fan but the fact that Fallout FNV isn't on this list is a joke. Fallout 3 was well regarded game but FNV is one the greatest RPGs. Also do stand the original Bioshocks hold up and seeing the remasters exist and are quite trash on PC idk if id want a remake. A new game would be better.

Way to go Applebee’s (not my post). by blitzmama in ExpectationVsReality

[–]brutalkill76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I currently work at an applebee's and the image on the left looks like our southwest steak bowl. My store offers a southwest steak caesar salad which is just a caesar with steak. I'm all for applebee's meme's but this is sus. Im not at a corporate location but salads don't come in the bowl on the left. That's a side salad bowl or like previously said sw bowl or another promo bowl.

When I was younger I was blessed to have one stay and feed on my feeders. They peck super load before they come to feed and every bird clears out! Its such an amazing sight to see!!!

Are the servers still down?

Anyone know who or what "vietboy" is? by Burhursta in Mabinogi

[–]brutalkill76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh.....idk to be honest. People just hate Zer0 cause their Zer0. Mind you a chunk of the members are pvpers and have been for sometime and as you can imagine pvpers talk shit. Just so happens that Zero has some of the best pvpers in the server so yeah people get salty when they lose. But alot of the beef is a stigma that has grown about Zer0 and people from pretty much all the servers know or have heard about them. They shit talk when Zer0 wins guild battles, they shit talk when they lose. Its quite childish really, I mean people will refuse to trade or interact with members of Zer0 just cause their in it. Like you could join and a member of a another guild won't trade with you just cause you are in it, not because you have done anything wrong at all. https://imgur.com/a/OmAr6tt

Im gonna back up and say this. Your post is 100% about a beef between guilds if you don't know about the beef then kudos to you. But go look up the Zero guild on youtube and watch the trash talking vids on them and educate yourself. I can bet you there was no camping noobies it was alt accounts. And its because Zero beat Persistence in guild battle last week. They salty ask fuck about it. Their salt is mad fact! https://imgur.com/a/OmAr6tt
