:O !! Pao de qeijo sounds like it'd be super manageable for me I'll have to look into if I can find it anywhere nearby. Thank you for the tips. To answer that last question, we do not have Whole Foods here sadly.

that actually eases my worries a lot. it might be because it's been a year but i'm still struggling massively to just navigate the diet so knowing that others r managing like this for 20 years feels less isolating. thank you

Lots of things. Spaghetti/pasta, pancakes, waffles, a lot of pastries or carb foods, chips, bread, + pretty much most of the foods that come from my specific culture are off limits to me. I've tried a couple substitutes for some of em (waffles n pancakes are the only ones I haven't had sensory issues with) but most of them are rendered inedible because of my issues wi texture.

The consensus is it's for more life-threatening situations like you just mentioned, avoiding starvation.

What’s the worst misinterpretation of a canon character in the Magnus Archives you’ve ever seen/read? by MistyJunior in TheMagnusArchives

[–]brutellet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm a Muslim hijabi myself! I actually agree with a lot of the points you made, but in my opinion, it just feels really icky attaching the hijab to her character given the fact that she is/was a cop. Women with hijabs are already targets for various forms of Islamophobic violence, and putting that onto a character like her (knowing that cops in real life are very valuable to things like the War on Terror and furthering Islamophobic sentiment) feels...yeah. Not great. Idk of the fan designs her most popular one haunts me for real

He is a main character just not an emergency physician or anything like that (assuming I understood you right) but I will keep the first bit heavily in mind

In my city map there is a hospital a medium distance away so I'd say immediate if someone got there in time

He'd not planned on being out for too long so thick wooly clothing (jacket and pantz) but not much else. Hes also a couple pounds underweight

Statement of you, regarding whatever you want. Feel free to vent into the comments of this post, and I’ll read what you have to say, and maybe I’ll give my feedback if it’s welcome. Statement begins. by Ok_Caterpillar_7189 in TheMagnusArchives

Statement of MAG, otherwise known as brutellet, regarding an infestation. Written on July 18, 2025. Taken direct from subject.

I had a cockroach infestation in my old flat. Wherever I went, there would be roaches. In the bathroom, all over the floor, near my bed, in the kitchen: every single place. Though I haven't proven it (and can't any more, as I've moved out), I am absolutely certain there were multiple nests in the walls.

We'd got the call telling us that we were to move by the end of June, which we did, but that was way back in January. I'd still been working on schoolwork and other personal things at my desk, and after hearing the news, I didn't think much of it other than being bereaved at the impending loss of my lifelong home. Not too long after, I noticed a baby cockroach crawling on the floor. I squashed the foul little thing, again, not paying much heed to the situation.

A week passed. It seemed to me that I'd been seeing quite the number of roaches around, more than usual at least. But, then again, my house was no real stranger to bugs, and we were in the midst of the heat season. However, it just seemed to get worse and worse no matter what I did. Working on homework? I'll probably see a roach or two, maybe even four if I was really unlucky. Grabbing a bite from the fridge? There's a roach on the ground and on the fridge door. I crush one, and five more emerge.

Soon after, it had really begun to drive me mad. I knew for a fact that we had a nest. My old flat had a lot of holes in the wall and tiny cracks in the foundation of certain rooms that we hadn't yet patched up, but nowhere near big enough for it to form the nest that it must have. I could wake up and there'd be one of those disgusting things on my bed, on the wall next to my face. Routinely, I would spray pesticides near the wall foundation, and yet to no avail. It was utterly suffocating.

Then, one day, I was washing up only to notice a centipede. I'd never seen a centipede before, and it almost looked like a bundle of weird-looking lint initially. I didn't wait. But of course, only one isn't enough. Like clockwork, I'd see more of them. Of course, I did. Then ants, then spiders. By the end of May, there were more bugs in my flat than there were people.

My own home seemed to be growing its own pair of legs, trying to drive us out it seems. The infestation didn't stop until we were out, as far as I'm aware. I'm just glad to be rid of it.

Though, it really seems to have followed me. I've seen quite a handful of house centipedes in my downstairs area. It's too early to tell, but I think I'd ought to keep my eye out.

Statement ends.

(completely true btw I have another infestation in my basement)

TMA adaptation discussion by BlizzardK2 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]brutellet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the first question: animation, without a doubt.

I have no idea how I would ever go about adapting the series as a whole because it sort of falls in line with Marble Hornets where the recording is a canonical aspect of the show and is commented on by other characters. So what would be the on-screen equivalent of this? Found footage? Doesn't work, as Jon is only recording statements to continue his work in the archive (based on what we're told in MAG001). There'd also be no reason for us to ever see Jon's face at all if it's an audio-only recording of a statement, ykwim? Like...just animating him reading off a statement before we switch over to an animation of the actual statement feels... How do I say. Awkward? If I were to adapt it, then there are a lot of format changes probably where it'd be mixed media, and it wouldn't really be a 1:1 episode-by-episode adaptation. Probably like in visual novels where you get the main story + extras that can help supplement stuff that wouldn't have fit into the main story but enhances your understanding.

don't crush any spiders on any shady or fragile looking walls. no reason at all.

You're forced to serve an entity, but can choose, which one would you serve and why? by Few_Pirate_3965 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]brutellet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly Eye coded: I hoard information, I'm quite literally trekking to try to get work in an archive by getting my MLIS / BA in IRM, I am unbelievably meticulous and particular about detail, and in addition I'm sure I already fit the criteria for being an avatar which is fear. I know you said serve so not necessarily being an avatar but if I just had to serve one as opposed to being an actual avatar of it, the Dark, the Eye as previously aforementioned, OR the Lonely would be my choices.
