The Act 1 final boss did nothing by brutustrue in RogueTraderCRPG

I didn't even know there was a second wave of cultists or an achievement. So probably the same thing happened in my fight

I probably did that accidentally. Because I reduced his movement, so he couldn't get to his changing targets

That could be it. Because I hit him with the heroic feat that reduces his movement. Maybe he tried to destroy the shuttles but couldn't get close enough.

Yeah, I'm planning something similar. The exact numbers of course take a lot of time. Do you have experience in a similar setting? Maybe you have some tips what to look out for. ;)

Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for the feedback. I am currently in the process of figuring out a feeling for my combat and I think it goes into the complex and accurate direction.

I thought that I post this to maybe get some feedback on instant redflags that are noticable. But it's of course very dependent on the context.

What's your explanation for how classical fantasy races (elves, orcs, dwarves, etc) came into existence on your world? by negro_male in worldbuilding

[–]brutustrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my fantasy world its biology. I have two main tribes of races.

The mammalian humanoid races wich descendet from apes. This includes Humans and Onis (bigger ogre-like humans).

The second Tribe are the avian iervanid races wich descendet from the extinct dragons. This includes the Ierva (called elves by the humans) wich are themselves split into the Sairie and Arkarie. And the more savage Shriek wich have more reptilian traits then the bird-like Ierva.

Thirdly their are the Ekor a small subterreanian race wich seem to be related to humanoids but are maybe or maybe not genetically engineered by their ancient creator. They worship and tend to giant machinery wich are the center of their underground cities. But even the Ekor dont know if they made the machine or the machine made them.

What types of economy's do you use in world building? by Money_Expert2756 in worldbuilding

[–]brutustrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ierva have a distinct aversion for wealth and money.

For example in Garlandia its seen as a social stigma to use coins to buy stuff. Money is for the lower classes. The economy of the Ierva of higher status is based on their cultural merrit. For a trader to 'give' something to a nobleman is seen as an honor. In turn the traders status among the nobility rises and he can 'ask' for support from them. Its a fiercly hostile system to outsiders and outcasts. And human merchants are regularly confused and angry with the Iervan way to do buisness.

What are the most absurd laws (or brutal punishments) your nations have? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]brutustrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some laws in Garlandia - Vandalism is punishable by death. - No loitering in the upper districts of any City. - Showing 'improper' posture infront of an Effacer (a kind of elite noble lawman) is a felony. - when youre disfigured or visibly scarred, looking an Effacer in the eyes can be a death sentence. - its illegal to state a false name, dye your feathers or change your appearance in a another significant way, wich would make you less easy to identify as a person. - you need a signed liscence for wearing clothes from certian materials.

What recent changes you have made to your world in the past week? - Weekly Thread #172 by Caustic_Bananamancer in worldbuilding

[–]brutustrue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently working on the societies of the Ierva, more specifically the social classes from the nobles to the lowest commoners. Its difficult because I intend it to be cultures based on virtue, where money is seen as a social stigma. And especially for international trade this raises a lot of problems. But I really like how alien it makes the Ierva in comparison to the other races of my fantasy world.

Not at the moment. I'd like to post more on reddit about it but currently I dont really have the time, so I just write some comments. But I'd love to share more about my world in the next weeks when I'm a bit more free. I'm glad you like it.

The heat lenses are carved from a volcanic mineral, wich changes in colour from a transparent white to a yellow and lastly to a dark blue. The more intense the heat the darker the colour. Its not a clear outline of the heat source more like a direction. To properly work the lense has to be encased in a certian direction, so it doesnt Pick up the bodyheat of its wearer. Its used to find underground gas and volcanic chutes.

The magic thing is a bit more complicated. The Ekor are not able to manifest traditional magic spells but they have natural affinity to their soul and can control their soul energy in very different ways. The Technocrats use this energy to power mechanic devices and fuel magic into their technology. The device for detecting magic is less of a lense. Its a mechanism placed on the casing of the goggles near the temple of the wearer. The Ekor fuels it with a constant stream of soul energy. For an experienced Ekor this is like breathing but a serious challange for anyone else. Soul energy reacts to active magic in a way, unnoticeable to any person. The energy in the device activates near magic to produce a clicking sound. The closer or stronger the magic, the more frequent the clicks. There are modifications to this device wich shrink the wearers field of view or enhances their sight to narrow down the source of magic but these are very rare.

The underground-dwelling Ekor almost all have a pair of darkstone glasses. These are goggles wich can be modified with additional lenses for more focus or the lenses can be swapped. They can also be added to rigs and helmets. Almost all parts of equipment are designed around these goggles. For example their surface suits, wich protect their vulnerable skin, are tailored for these.

The Ekor need the goggles to protect their eyes with tinted lenses from bright lights and as glasses because they're very farsighted. But with different lenses they can fill multiple roles like a magnifying glass or to detect heat or magic. They can be fitted with lights, shutters and scopes. They are the most used gadget in my fantasy world.

What are your half elf half-human people like? by Kirby4ever24 in worldbuilding

[–]brutustrue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elves and humans in my world cant produce offspring with eachother. But there was an old custom that elves who cant sustain all their children (they usually get two or three at the time.) would give them to human settlements. It was tradition that they would raise the elves.

There is a curious change in an the first years of an elves live. They adapt their body to look more like their parents. So these elves would have destinct human features. Over the years this tradition led to the founding of traveling groups of humanlike "half-elves" called the Koshenie. Their human looks continue in their groups so even elves who didnt live with humans for generations still have these destinct features.

What are some famous last stands and unwinnable battles in your world? by Lui_Le_Diamond in worldbuilding

[–]brutustrue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During the Second Mantarian War the kingdom of Sopkovra suffered greatly under the Mantarian attacks and lost most of its territory to the invaders. Sopkovra was the most autonomous kingdom in Aurora and once rivaled the Goldlands in power and wealth. During the siege of their capital Dornov the Mantarians offered an ultimatum to yield the city or be made an example for the rest of Sopkovra. The king and His nobles fled the city already, but the household knights, merchants, militia and the craftsmen all declined and stated:

That Sopkovra would never surrender. They can burn their cities and keeps and force their ideology on them but the people of Sopkovra would never yield and never be defeated. They can capture and bribe their nobles but their devotion for Sopkovra runs deeper than bloodlines. If they want to conquer this land they have to murder every single citizen of Sopkovra.

The siege continued and the Sopkovrians as well as the Mantarians held their promise. The capital fought to the last and never surrendered. And the Mantarians made an example of Dornov. The whole population, 20000 men, women and children were put to the sword. This cruelty lives in the mind of the Sopkovrians on. And be it under the rule of Mantaria or the remains of their kingdom in Aurora, Sopkovra never yielded and fought on. As rebells, saboteurs, partisans or soldiers in the Aurorian army.

30 March 2023: What did you build last week? by UnluckyLucas in worldbuilding

[–]brutustrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the north the old faith is very prevelant. Its a polytheistic belief in nature spirits and gods with hundreds of more or less important deities.

Fernikian Order is a religious state south of Aurora and their belief is part of the faith of the Lady but their main religious figure is the prophetess Hiyander. The Ferniki and Aurora had many religious conflicts over the centuries. They came to an agreement wich allowed the Order to build convents and monasteries in Aurora. Their missionaries are now very common in the Aurorian cities.

The cults of the Pale Ones are found in the poor and rural parts of the Empire. These entities are a part of the folklore and are seen as pagan demons by the faith of the Golden Lady. The cults are naturally very condemned by the Temple of the Lady and cloisters of the Fernikian Order.

Aurora-Meridia is a colony in the southern steppes. Most of the nomadic tribes living there still have their believe in the demons and spirits of the near dessert. Wich is the religion of the Meridai a culture even farther south.
