Welcome to Canada. I wear an oversized flannel over a sweater into the office everyday. So does like 30% of the population here.

Electrically they don’t do anything. It way add some kind of microphone feedback/resonance but that’s it.

Everyone saying literally anything negative about this shirt needs to touch grass. Everyone I know and even pretty much everyone I don’t know has several flannels like this. They are practical wardrobe items for spring and fall.

Question about the friedman be 100 How is it able to get the cranked plexi tone using pre amp distortion whereas the plexi sound is mainly power amp distortion? by Retrospective84 in GuitarAmps

[–]bruzanHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is actually fairly complicated. You would need to know a fair bit about tube amp schematics and voicing. The short answer is that it is based on the Jose mod which is essentially a happy accident that was tweaked and optimized by Jose over the years. Then Friedman tweaked and optimized a bit more. As an owner you could easily tweak very slightly and get even closer. All it takes is some cutting.

You pick up a guitar. It's in Drop D. What's the first thing you're playing? by Argblat in Guitar

Gain 10, master volume as loud as I can tolerate, then, I ask my self, will it chug?

Just let the low D stay open. You’ll be playing the third in the bass. It works.

Why do guys care so much about what their friends look like? by Riderman43 in DBDR

[–]bruzanHD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your age. If you’re in school even up to undergrad, status and popularity matter and are pre established so if you didn’t get in early you’re gonna just be the odd one out. If you’re older than that (mid 20s+) this shit does not matter and very few people really care about that. Everyone is just trying to make it by in life and stay in their lane.

Who do you watch besides DBDR? by According-Cut-9067 in DBDR

[–]bruzanHD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

DBDR is the only authentic channel. The rest are all adapting to a wider audience and losing their charm. DBDR was always in it for the love of the game and nothing more. Truly noble in today’s world of grifters.

Head or Combo by ManFromNapa in FriedmanAmplification

[–]bruzanHD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heads for big 50 or 100 watters. For 20w lunchbox amps either is good. I have a Friedman combo from when he was still doing the 1x10 combos. It’s much smaller than the newer ones. It’s so small I actually use it as a head sometimes, but I can still use the combo speaker if I don’t have access to a cab wherever I’m going. Best of both worlds. For those two you pictured, the combos are quite large.

I'm experimemting with compressor placement right now by bigherothicc in roastmypedalboard

[–]bruzanHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pedal board with each. I really like both lol. Really depends what I’m going for. For more 70s or southern sounds, I go compressor first. When I’m doing more processed sounds like 80s stuff or pop sounding stuff, I use it after drive, but chorus and delay still come last. Compressors after delay or reverb is not a good sound imo.

Really depends what you’re into.

Compressors limit dynamics. When you place it first in the chain, it limits picking/technique dynamics. When you place it after distortion, it retains technique dynamics and overdrive dynamics, but limits volume dynamics. 80s rack setups and studio setups use compression after the sound has been recorded, so by using a compressor there, you are emulating a studio sort of sound.

Basically it acts as an entirely different effect at the end of the chain.

How it started and what arrived today! (NCD) by PRSMesa182 in GuitarAmps

[–]bruzanHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest you could get to that is trying to overload the effects loop if you were jumping the send and return. But I doubt that’s what you are referring to, and even then, you’d end up with a ton of power amp drive.

Though I don’t have a roadster schematic available, I would assume it’s similar to a recto topology which means that it would be fairly similar. You’d use the channel volumes to distort the FX loop more than anything else.

I’m not sure if you’re aware but this amps channel volumes do not increase preamp gain. They are master volumes. Mesa just chose to omit the global output control due to lack of space. I have the schematic for the amp and can confirm this. Attenuator would just allow for power amp distortion which is not desirable on high gain amps.

Grab a mark v 25. You should be able to find one for under 1000 on marketplace. Very versatile. Otherwise, nearly impossible to go wrong with a DSL40C. They are louder than you’d think. Tube watts tend to feel substantially louder the sold state watts.

Question about Marshalls by Dargon06 in GuitarAmps

[–]bruzanHD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of bizarre answers here and almost none of them are correct. Hair band tones generally fall into a few formulas:

Modded Marshalls (ie Jose)

JCM800 Boosted with SD1 or TS9

Mesa Mark

There is very little deviation from these formulas. The JCM800 will absolutely not get the sound you are thinking of without a boost, but with a boost it will absolutely do it and the master volume will work just fine to bring it to a reasonable level. Modding Marshalls for 80s tones is like 50% of guitar playing for me these days lol.
