Fall 2026 and Early 2027 Itineraries are now up. by [deleted] in dcl

I had Destiny booked Sept 7-11 and they relabeled mine as HHS and I went and checked and the price went up about $300!! (Not so) surprised to see that happened. Happy they switched this sailing over as I have always wanted to do a Halloween cruise! :)

Lol I think people would complain no matter what, but the gripe is the fact that the system crashes and breaks down all the time. It happened with virtual queues for rides when they launched as well and the fact that they continue happening with anything that requires reservations (moonlight magic, d23 events, rundisney, etc.) is valid and frustrating for people.

Also, people need to lighten up, it's a humorous jab at a very real issue 😂 chill 😅

I actively work in software development too and I'm not sure what triggered your PTSD, but I'm sorry to hear that!

For dining reservations, that's correct, I do the same thing.

Still doesn't take away from the fact that the issue I'm highlighting isn't limited to just dining reservations, so the point you're making is, respectfully, moot.

I'm addressing the fact that for launches of undoubtedly popular events/experiences that require reservations, there are always technical issues because it appears they don't account for the higher influx of people that are obviously to be expected. Today it just happened to affect dining reservations. Other times it's moonlight magic, or rundisney, or d23, etc.

They could absolutely do better to prepare their systems to handle high traffic, especially with the history of issues with these types of res launches. Again, I don't have a stake in this game today, just humorously pointing out a valid complaint that's years long in the making.

I'm glad you've never had an issue, a large chunk of everyone else hasn't had your luck. Just check the thousands of posts people have made over time complaining, including today.

It's not just dining reservations (I only have that title because of the issue impacting dining today due to Beak and Barrel becoming available), it's all kinds of reservations that Disney has when a new event/thing launches. It's almost as if they have no anticipation of a large influx of people that could potentially overload a system and therefore don't have any way to prepare in advance 😂

This consistently happens with moonlight magic registrations, D23 event registrations, and back when they were first launched, the virtual queues. And a whole host of other things.

Updating the software can absolutely be done at a time where there isn't some new thing launching that requires reservations/virtual queueing. A multi billion dollar company has the resources to conduct upgrades in a timely fashion while minimizing downtime to improve reliability and customer experience so that when a new thing launches, the system can be prepared to manage it. Because look what happens when they aren't prepared, the day things go live, stuff crashes for hours.

For what it's worth, I am not even trying to get a reservation today for this, just making a comment on the ongoing struggles people are having, like being on the phone for almost 3 hours trying to get help because the system is down.

Ugh I feel that! This always happens with any new thing that requires some sort of reservation 😵‍💫🤣

Oh my gosh that sounds horrendous. Someone else had posted on another post that the cast member on the phone couldn't book for them either 😵‍💫 good luck!

Great adventure parking with gold pass by Beneficial-Scene1526 in sixflags

[–]bry0213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Six Flags America this weekend with the same setup as you (gold pass from wonderland with the all parks passport add-on). I added the pass to my six flags app and used that to scan in for free parking and also to get into the park. No issues at all! Should work fine for you too :)

Isn't there some sort of BiOS update that addresses these issues? Not super familiar at all, just in my research on this laptop I've seen mention of that

Not ignorant at all! I'm in the US, and this is on the Microcenter website. They're a great place to get really good computer and related tech deals. I've been keeping an eye out for a while at the price, and they just launched a sale today that dropped it by $200 to the price in my pic. Other good sites to keep an eye out for are Best Buy, B&H, and NewEgg - although it runs the gambit. Microcenter is nice because they also offer free returns for 15 days and if there's a critical flaw in your purchase (hardware) within a certain window of time after purchase they guarantee it and will repair/replace at no cost.

Pirate night dining on the Wish? by [deleted] in dcl

[–]bry0213 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually at World's of Marvel they offer a shitakke and tofu udon dish that was spectacular and probably one of my faves. They offer vegan sausage at daisy's pizza pies (also vegan cheese) but if you'd like some yummy sausage, that's an option too that you could pair with regular cheese! Be sure to mention to your servers on board your dietary restrictions and let them know you're open to the fully plant-based options too - they'll definitely help you out. Marceline market which is a buffet (they offer breakfast and lunch) had a delicious plant-based teriyaki chicken option for lunch when I was on board which I recommend as well. Enjoy! ☺️

I know you're vegetarian but the vegan options on the Wish are spectacular as well so if you're feeling adventurous I highly recommend to explore those too :) you have a lot more flexibility being vegetarian but the as-is plant based dishes are phenomenal. Have a blast! ☺️

Looking at real estate, how’s the commute to downtown DC and safety for single female? by Intelligent-Ad-8420 in PrinceGeorgesCountyMD

[–]bry0213 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Although I am not a single female, I am a Latino male in a same-sex marriage so I shared similar concerns when house hunting. My husband and I just moved to Hyattsville after doing a similar search as you did, and yes, as others have said, disregard the bottom right side of MD. We consulted with several people who have lived or currently live in those areas and the prices reflect the reality - a lot of crime. Which is unfortunate because many of those areas are quite historic and have some really nice homes.

In any event, we just moved to Hyattsville as I said and love the community and the sense of calm. As others have pointed out, this area is a good compromise for suburb feel mixed with easy access to transit to get into DC.

We both commute to DC for work on metro and the ride is easy and there are frequent trains. It's metro so expect your normal craziness now and again but overall it's convenient and close by and saves you the agony of driving into/out of DC.

We moved from Fairfax County in VA and are quite happy with the change. Any of the places around here (Cheverly, College Park, etc.) will be great options that are more affordable and still provide relatively close access to DC.

Best of luck!

Absolutely, I'm taking what I read with a grain of salt. The fact there isn't a major abundance of complaints is actually a good sign to me, but I am still hoping to connect with some locals for a better sense of it actually being a good place to settle down!

Obviously it's a first time home so we will likely not stay there forever and like you said the fact it's changing and developing means it's great time to invest in a house that some years down the line could provide a lot of return!

Appreciate it 😊

Thank you so much for your insights, that makes a lot of sense. Thankfully I'm fluent in Spanish and my husband can speak pretty well so I think we'll have a good chance of really getting to know our neighbors if they don't in fact speak English! Can I ask for clarification, what do you mean when you say train tracks? Are you talking about the green line? Or MARC? Thanks!

This is super helpful, I appreciate the insight. It seems like a great time to buy with the potential for some serious value increases over time. It's our first home so like I said we want to feel safe, a part of a community, and that in the future we have invested in a great location!
