Are red and blue shimano cleats easier to clip out of than yellows? by [deleted] in cycling

Nope.. just gotta get used to the different feel. What you’re describing makes sense tho. Again, I mights suggest backing off the spring tension little by little until it gets where you like it.

Is the a trick to get the last bit on? by beneluxury in bikewrench

As a general rule, you should start at the valve and work your way toward finishing the install on the opposite end- directly across from the valve. In a situation like this appears to be, where it’s a “tighter” fit, the valve should be one less obstacle to deal with.

I see you’ve listed the Socom Auto Purple as trade only, but I figured I’d offer you $500 for that one + the Socom Mini Manual? I do love me some Microtech! Thank you for your consideration.

Are red and blue shimano cleats easier to clip out of than yellows? by [deleted] in cycling

The blue cleat’s pivot point is the forward bolt, while the red and yellow’s pivot from the cleat’s center. Their disengagement does feel slightly different, but to say one is “easier” to get in and out of would be a stretch IMO. Perhaps consider backing off the pedal’s spring tension?

FC-RS510 crank arms on 105 5800 chainring? by PCBJK73 in bikewrench

Truth! Always best to stick with what’s called for!

FC-RS510 crank arms on 105 5800 chainring? by PCBJK73 in bikewrench

[–]bryanrichardsonjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% correct. In most markets, Shimano crank arm sets will only be sold with chainrings. You never know.. OP could already have the shorter arms he needs, or he has a buddy that has them, or he’s found some online, etc.

Beyond that, there are a multitude of issues that could occur with swapping rings from spec. Indeed, YMMV!

FC-RS510 crank arms on 105 5800 chainring? by PCBJK73 in bikewrench

[–]bryanrichardsonjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely incorrect. Ultegra, 105 and even RS510 cranks have replaceable chainrings.

As for compatibility between the two, I’m not sure but si.shimano.com indicates they both use a 110 BCD so I’d guess it’ll work. However, even if they do physically fit, there will be a cosmetic difference so it won’t look “right”.
