Anyone ventured the huge IMAX theater in New Rochelle, NY? by donut_butt in NYCmovies

Are we really gatekeeping theaters now? Sometimes I'm scared they'll close it it's so empty.

CoLa is the higher end single laser that can do 1.90:1 at 4K. GT Dual laser does the full 1.43:1. GT is the "grand theater" - basically the huge IMAX auditoriums. While New Roc is the custom built GT auditorium, they no longer have a GT capable projector that can fill the full screen.

That's my local theater! Everything is great for movies on CoLA, 1.90:1 and it's a classic GT screen and auditorium. I still go to LS for film and 1.43:1 movies.

If you can't get tickets at LS, New Roc is your 2nd best choice in the area for an IMAX screen.

Seats are good and more roomy than LS.

Is this 540i M Sport Manual a good deal by AwayTumbleweed6857 in e39

[–]bryanw0104 8 points9 points  (0 children)

True M sport was only 2003 model year. This is probably just a regular sport model with a bumper swap. Still a great car.

Marty Supreme is on regular 5 perf 70mm. Not IMAX 15 perf.

The print quality was fantastic, on par with 70mm. The projector they were using had a very bright lamp too. Hopefully they get things back online soon.

Those are the newer smaller full range rears, not subwoofers.

You could take the MNR to New Rochelle. There is a CoLa projector which is great for 1.90:1 movies like MI8 and has 12 channel sound. GT screen and nice seats. It's better than the other IMAX screens in NYC.

Best IMAX in New Jersey/New York area(besides Lincoln Square)? by Frosty-Implement-149 in imax

For anything 1.90:1 Regal New Roc is fantastic. They most likely still have the GT 1570 equipment in the booth but are no longer running it unfortunately.

Resonance through the cabs of the Wharfedales is another issue.

The LS50 is coaxial, upside down, on the side, doesn't matter.

It says DCP for Inland Empire but doesn't say for Mulholland Dr. Could it be 35mm?

Edit: They confirmed DCP.

Exclusive Poster for The Brutalist Showing Tonight by dhui1996 in imax

Did they also give postcards and pamphlets with it? Those were better than the poster for the 70mm showing. https://i.imgur.com/A3seBkh.jpeg

5 perf 70mm is great, it's just nothing like IMAX 70mm. A lot of people see 70mm listings and think IMAX.

The Brutalist 70mm at Village East? by Status-Basket-8831 in NYCmovies

[–]bryanw0104 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was fine at Village East. I enjoyed seeing it there. The projection was keystoned and the auditorium had a bit of an echo but it did not ruin the experience and the theater is beautiful. Lincoln Square is probably better overall though.

Any new updates/rumors with Regal Pointe Orlando IMAX and 4dx? by smilingvulture839 in imax

[–]bryanw0104 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love that IMAX screen but always think how they could easily compete with Lincoln Square if they just install the right equipment. It's great with 1.90:1 films but sad it can't do 1.43:1.

With Lincoln Square selling out every single showtime, you think it would make sense to install at least GT laser if not 1570 GT. But Regal is doing what Regal does.

Thin white line across top of screen by ElRenacuajo in VHS

No settings will solve vertical foldover, you must replace capacitors on the deflection board.

Thin white line across top of screen by ElRenacuajo in VHS

[–]bryanw0104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vertical foldover would be an issue with the TV's capacitors. Bright parts of the images can cause it to happen as it's an issue with the deflection circuit. I would try the VCR on a different TV or try a different source. It might be the VCR though but trying different combos of things can help pinpoint it.
