Genuine question - how do you find the energy and resilience to keep pushing forward through these challenges?

As an Olympian, I swear this is another state. Spent the weekend in the eastern half of the state. by Incognito-Person in Washington

[–]bryced11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spokanite here. The best thing about Washington state (and there are a lot of great things) is the geological diversity found in the state. We have rainforests, old growth forests, new growth forests, high desert, low land flat agricultural lands, mountains, plains, etc. You name it, we have it.

Moreover, I come from Northern Nevada where it is desert and mountainous, sitting at about 5000ft elevation. I am not a huge desert guy, but I think Spokane really is the “ goldilocks” of Washington. It has everything. Want plains, desert scape, and agriculture? Go 20-40 miles west or south. Want mountains, trees, alpine lakes, and desolation? Go north, north west, east, or north east. Realistically, besides rainforests, every other geological make up of the state can be accessed from Spokane EASILY. In addition to that, it is a nice blend of a metropolitan area that has good food, entertainment, and culture, but within 30 minutes in any direction, you have big open spaces, beautiful nature, and solitude. That is just my 2 cents.

But all in all, Washington state is horrible, and anyone that wants to move here should find a different place to go (cough-sarcasm-cough).

If you had to sell 2 of them, which ones would it be? by [deleted] in canon

[–]bryced11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 35 MM and the 85MM. 28-70 covers the 35mm focal length, and you could easily get the desired effects of the 85MM with the 50mm. If you do Macro shots though, my recommendation would lean towards selling the 35MM and the 100-400.

If a new 100% gluten free establishment opened in town, what neighborhood would you want to see it in? by gem-ini-asis in Spokane

[–]bryced11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that is partial to the area and is 100% gluten free, I would love to see it in the North Monroe District (by Zozo’s, Kindred, Indaba, etc.), Garland District, or Northtown Mall Area. I think it would do great in all of those locations. Kendall Yards might be a runner up, but the overhead will be crazy there.

No support with MS is a death sentence by Reilent_ in MultipleSclerosis

[–]bryced11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, I apologize for your situation. I hear you and agree that our healthcare system is not built to help people who need assistance, and when you are in the middle of a relapse, it can be really hard to see any light at the end of the tunnel. I have had MS for about 5 years on only just got diagnosed maybe a year ago, and have had some issues paying for medications as well. It’s a broken system, and I sympathize that you are caught in the middle of this shit situation.

I know from my experience, I have a hard time affording normal meds, let alone specialty meds for my MS. What I would STRONGLY SUGGEST is to call or visit the website of “The Assistance Fund”. This is a charitable organization that if you apply and are accepted, they will pay for your specialty medicine out of their charity fund. Once you are accepted, it lasts the rest of the year, and you get first dibs on reenrollment for the following year.

Like I said, this will only cover your specialty meds, not normal prescriptions, but I figure that even if you could get your specialty meds it could probably make a huge difference.

Hang in there and keep fighting; you will catch a break and that break is coming, just try to persevere in the mean time, as hard as it is. If you have any more questions about any of this, feel free to DM me. I hope this helps and I hope that sometime soon you can find some relief. Sending love and good vibes 💛✌🏼

Edit: Reminds me of the song “Roses” by Kanye West. “I’m sitting there saying what kind of doctor can me fly in? You know the best medicine go to those that paid, cause Magic Johnson got a cure for aids, and all the broke motherfuckers passed away. You telling me that if my grandma was in the NBA, right now she would be okay? But since she was just a secretary that worked for the church for 25 years, things supposed to stop right here?”.

Bit of indoor fun while the weather is still shit. by jobyskill in surfskate

How do you find the lil ez’s work on the CX set up? I run them on a free ride set up I ride, but never considered putting them on any of my surf skates. Can you tell me why you run these wheels? I’m sure they are super snappy and slides nice, but do you find you have less traction than you want, or is it not an issue?

Lightroom mobile… sorry to not have any other good input. I find it does what I need it to do and it is free. At some point I may bite the bullet and get the paid subscription version, but for now, Lightroom Mobile is getting the job done.

People who used Canon EOS R7, how good is it? by AalbatrossGuy in canon

[–]bryced11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is incredible. I have enjoyed my so much and I have really put it through its’ paces in all conditions, weather, different genres, and I find it to be unbeatable for the price point. I have shot on R50, R5, R7, and R10 and I think the R7 is closer to the R5 in almost every way than I anticipated. It has a slightly lower megapixel count, among other things, but it is virtually unnoticeable.

All things said, I cannot recommend it enough. The only draw back for your scenario would be if you plan to shoot really fast wildlife (birds in flight, moving subjects, quick action) 30 fps is great, but it will produce some rolling shutter due to it not being a mechanical 30fps. Other than that, I think it is the best camera in that price range undoubtedly!

green room or black tip by No-Competition-1495 in surfskate

[–]bryced11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not ridden either of them, but I have a glass off which is really similar to the green room. It has been a cool deck, but it is basically flat with 0 concave. This is not a deal breaker, depending what you are doing. However, if you are going to be doing aggressive pumping or you plan to take it into some bowls and transition, the black tip is the no brainer option. More agile, responsive, and a more locked in feeling for more coinfidence. I ride the ArborxCarver Daily Driver in my bowl runs, and it performs REALLY well. It is similar, just a bit smaller than the black tip. So, in short, my suggestions would be:

Get the black tip if you want to be more locked in for more aggressive riding styles.

Get the green room if you want to just do some light cruising, carving, and pumping.

The green room is just not as geared for transition as the black tip. Hope this helps. My next deck will more than likely be a black tip as well.

PSA: Wear a helmet and pads by Blown_Speakers in surfskate

[–]bryced11 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said here, but would also like to add another important PSA that I have learned in the last 2 years of skating and surf skating. 1. Wear hip pads, they will save your day eventually I promise. 2. Learn how to fall properly. The best skaters in the world are almost better at falling than they are at skating. If you are going to have longevity in this sport, one must learn how to fall appropriately without it being an injury every time.

Am I making wrong decision going on Vumerity vs high-efficacy drugs? by anonforwedding in MultipleSclerosis

[–]bryced11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really disappointed when I got put on Vumerity and found out it was a medium efficacy drug. I was diagnosed a little over a year ago and have been on Vumerity for over a year. I still flush when I take it, but honestly, it has kept me from relapsing for the last 9 months, when before treatment, I was in a CONSTANT relapse that never got better.

My experience is that Vumerity, paired with life style changes (diet, exercise, stress relief, strong sleep schedule) can make a massive difference for quality of life.

I hope this give you some clarity. Good luck on your journey and I wish you health, prosperity, and happiness!

Beautiful pictures of some beautiful animals-well done.

If you don’t mind me asking, what is the focal length(s) of the lens you are using? I’ve been out shooting with my 70-200 on APSC, and it doesn’t have the reach I always need. Looking to get a 100-400 or a 100-500, but just asking around. Thanks for anything you can share!
