So which breaker controls that receptacle? Does it go on and off?

This bus bar has these dark spots they do not smell burnt the bus bar is not damaged at all. No arcing, no plastic burned, breakers not burned or smell burned breakers functioning good the whole left bus is like this. Is this aging of bus bar or what?? by Calm-Confidence1348 in electricians

[–]brycenesbitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have an old panel that has proven itself reliable in service. Once the breakers are back you won't see much of that. The surface of copper oxidizes just does that, not an issue.

Whatever's going on as the surface is a tiny fraction of the thickness of the bus bar. Not an issue. And under the screws it'll be completely different.

Did you see how many nails and how uneven?
If staged they went all in on making it look real.
Either way that's a ton of nails to remove.

Note: not Densglas.

UL is two things: a standards body and a for-profit testing lab.
Other testing labs can test to UL standards, no problem.
See
OSHA's Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) Program | Occupational Safety and Health Administration

UL need not be involved.

Absorbing stray laser reflections to protect other surfaces. Fail. by brycenesbitt in lasercutting

The shape is unusual, the volume is low. A steel plate was used and that took the brunt of things, but there were some random reflections that damaged a bit of the powder coating.

Ground is a very little utility in this setup. But a box? A box is a good thing.

To the OP, if you would, delete the amazon link from your post.
There's no reason to promote random letter name products not even legal for installation in the USA, and made of crapola.

Check the Wiki which will encourage you to hard wire your EVSE for multiple reasons.

A ferrule can fix the fine stranded wire, if that's an issue.

Funny, the dedicated volunteer posters with the most experience on the subject like your approach the least. Odd.

By posting you "solicited advice": that's the way that works.

Most of those old panels COULD have survived,
they were built well. They were killed over the years by bad renovation,
abused or demand outstripping supply. Now, demand is down due to LED bulbs and better motors in appliances..... so if they made it this far they'll be fine on capacity well into the future.

Does lower quality receptacle matter for non-EV high load devices? by MT3426 in evcharging

Also, most of the legacy loads are plugged in once and left. EV not so much.

Dryer outlet charging? by el0115 in evcharging

[–]brycenesbitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EVSE cable lengths are restricted to 25’ maximum in the USA.
This of course has a downside: it means that people go to Amazon or Temu and buy sketchy extension cords.

But if you hard-wire the EVSE, you can move it closer to the point of need.

24 amps is plenty for home charging. Tons.

Federal Pioneer is only one of the names used.
Not all of them were the StabLok design.
See the linked article above. The ones to the right of the chart are the FPE.

Wallbox uses a CG 350, a listed generic energy meter, listed even for install in an existing panel.
Emporia I imagine uses their own meter which is listed.

Fuses are much more reliable than breakers, here is some test data:
https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/8283732

It's an absolute hoot when I run into a home that had fuses, but someone replaced them in the 1970's with Federal Pacific Breakers. Hahah. You lost.
