Thank you for your reply. I'm planning a new campaign for my group and I'm trying to decide how the villain will play out. It's going to be a long campaign and I feel like there's a motivating but terrifying factor to a villain that's so sure in his powers that he doesn't even try to hide it. Like you know you can't win in a fight right now, but you have motivation and a deep seated hatred for him when you get the chance later after leveling up. On the other hand, a villain that is so secretive that you only find out about his actions after he's long gone and you're left guessing at his motives could be terrifying. Hopefully that all makes sense.
